Christmas Trees

Well, only a few days left in 2021!  Before the holidays are behind us, I wanted to post these adorable trees that I made.  I originally saw this video on Jennifer McGuire's blog last year and purchased the dies but it was too late to make any, so I stashed them away for this year. I was really proud of myself that I remembered I had them!!  I think they turned out so cute.  I am definitely going to make some more next year in different color greens and mix and match them..

Here is a picture of two of them.

This is the smaller tree.  I made this one alternating branches with CS and felt.  I really liked the look of it but it is not as full looking as the one with all CS.  I decorated it with small gold beads and some thin gold thread I had in my stash that I use for tying on tags.

This one is made with all CS and to me it looks fuller.  I decorated it with tiny pom poms. The stars were punched out with gold glimmer paper.  I used my glue gun to put on the beads and pom poms not glue as Jennifer used.  To me it was a lot easier. The set was from Concord & 9th - Take a Bough Encore Dies, and I found my wood pieces at Hobby Lobby. I made another one with pom poms and found a wooden star that I used on the top instead.  I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that you have a wonderful New Year's.

Christmas Tags

Every year I like to give out candy canes attached to the individual presents.  This year I decided to make Christmas tags out of them.  It was hard to take pictures of them.

I used an old SU stamp set and die Seasonal Chums to make them.  I used these so many times when I was making items for the Wellness Center and decided to brush the dust off of them.  I thought they would be perfect to tie on the candy canes.

This set has a pumpkin, snowman and a reindeer stamps and dies.  I used my zig markers to color them in and tied them on with some ribbon.

I think they turned out so cute!  I plan on wrapping the mittens - which I posted the other week - around them as well and securing them on the individual presents.  Sometimes I wonder how I used to hold a full-time job and get ready for the holidays!  It seems like I am always running behind lately!

I don't know if I will get a chance to post anything else before Christmas, so I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Card

Well, I finally got around to making some Christmas cards.  I had purchase SU's Buffalo Check stamp set quite a while ago and never put any ink to it so I thought I would try it out on some Christmas cards.  Unfortunately, it was not that easy to use even with my stamp positioner tool.  What I thought would be an easy card to put together turned out the other way!

I conditioned my stamp before I used it and stamped with good black ink but had to do it about 5 times.  Even then the black squares were not stamped well.  In the end, I decided to use my black marker and color in the squares before I got some good coloring.

I used SU's Stitched Circles dies, Gina K's sentiment/dies and her Perfect Poinsettia stamp set for the leaves.  I also decorated the front with some tiny peel it stars.

For my sentiment, I used SU's Stamp set Season Like Christmas and embossed it in gold and added another peel it to decorate the inside.  I am going to have to experiment with another stamp color and see if it stamps better than the black.  It could be just the stamp, but I purchased it too long ago to send it back.  That's what I get for not trying out my stamps right away!

Felt Christmas Mittens

I saw this video awhile ago and I fell in love with these adorable mittens and decided to make some for the family this Christmas.  The die set is from Memory Box - Plush Frosty Mitten Style 99308.  They have additional dies that can be used with this die to decorate the mittens, but I only used this one.  It was hard to photograph them, but I finally decided to hang them on some skewers I had.  When I was photographing them, the song about the Three Little Kittens that washed their mittens and hung them out to dry came to mind!  LOL!

I thought it would be so cute if I tied these mittens on the presents for the family.

I had a bunch of different colored felt in my stash, as well as embroidery thread so I was all set to go.

I also used some buttons in my stash as well as some of SU's Christmas Decorative Designer buttons.  I didn't get a close up of the light blue mitten I made for the baby.  I used a giraffe button I had in my stash.  It looked so cute!

Here is a closer look.  I used some of SU's Christmas ribbon for the hanger.  I used the mitten, cuff and snowflake dies before I sewed them together.  I was only going to make a few but once I got started I couldn't stop!!

I'm not an expert seamstress but following the video they came together pretty good!  This is what I have been doing instead of making Christmas cards!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We are getting our first snow flurries for the season.  Jennifer and her friends enjoyed the Christmas lights this past weekend, as well as the ice skating rink that was set up.  They made it of acrylic.  Not as good as ice but they had fun!

Thanksgiving Cards

It has been a busy week so far. but I wanted to post my last Thanksgiving cards that I made.  I really enjoyed putting these cards together.

I used SU's stamp set Gather Together again along with the Woodland embossing folder.  I'm so glad I got this folder as you can use it on so many different types of cards.

I decided to use different colors for my leaves and cut them out with the matching die. I used SU's stamp set Painted Harvest for my sentiment, and  I added some gemstones and tied some twine on the stems.  These cards came together so quick.  Sometimes I find myself struggling to put everything together, but not with these cards.

For my inside sentiment, I used another Michael's stamp and stamped some pumpkins.  It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only a week away.  Everyone is coming here for the holiday so lots to do.  It is so nice here today but unfortunately bad weather is coming in tomorrow.  My daughter Margaret and her husband have been in Florida for the week, so I hope it clears up before we pick them up on Sunday.

Heartfelt Creations Birthday Card

In the midst of making some Thanksgiving cards, I made this card for my friend's birthday.  I used some of my Heartfelt Creations dies - Elegant Pocket, Diamond Basic and Lacy Diamond.  Their dies never cease to amaze me.  The base card was also made from one of them as well.

I was so happy with how this card turned out.  I used the Tweet Cherry Blossoms stamp set and dies for my flowers.  This is one of my favorite sets from Heartfelt.

We had a busy weekend.  Jennifer went rock climbing.  I get dizzy just looking up but she absolutely loved it!  I don't know how high it is but she went right to the top!

Saturday was our 56th Wedding Anniversary.  Ask me where the time has gone!  I feel like it was just yesterday that we got married.  We all went out to dinner and had a great time.  My daughter posted these pictures on Facebook.

Looking at them we wondered who are those people!  Jennifer was looking at our wedding album and said - Nanny you and Poppy look so skinny!!  Out off the mouths of babes! LOL!!

Jennifer's Birthday Card

Happy hump day! When I was working this day meant the weekend was almost here!  This post is about the card I made Jennifer for her birthday.  Those that have been following me since she was born on Halloween know that every year I incorporate the number of pumpkins of how old she is on her card.  Every year it gets a little more challenging!  Here is the card I made this year.

I first used a stencil and blended in some colors to make a background.  Then I used a tree stamp and filled the branches with some cute little pumpkin stickers I had on hand and put the number 8 on the trunk.  For the sentiment and decorations I used some peel offs.

For the inside sentiment, I used one of my favorite Halloween stamps and some more stickers!  I just loved how it turned out!  It was a busy weekend.  Here is a picture of Jennifer coming home from her Halloween Party at school. She was a witch this year.

We had her family birthday party Sunday at our house.  I had to get a picture as everyone was together which doesn't always happen!

Jennifer is quite the baby hog!  She wants to hold the baby all the time!

Thanksgiving Card

Here is another Thanksgiving card that I made.  I always feel Thanksgiving gets overlooked as we usually go right from Halloween to Christmas.  I have such good memories when I was younger, as we would go down to Maryland to see our relatives on Thanksgiving and have such a great time.  Lots of good cooking and great fun when all the cousins got together.  I saw this card on Pinterest and thought it was perfect.

I used SU's Gather Together stamp set and Gather Leaves Die.  This is another great card to use up those DSP scraps.

I used More Mustard CS on this card which is still one of my favorite colors from SU.  I had purchased extra packs when they discontinued it and unfortunately my supply is going down.  I love the little piece of wheat included in the set.

Here is the inside sentiment along with a little pumpkin from the stamp set I added.  The sun has finally surfaced again after some rough weather.  Lots of accidents with the rain.  Margaret got stuck on the highway going to work yesterday for 5 1/2 hours!!  It was a mess.  The problem it that once you get on it is hard to get off and of course no one wants to let you change lanes!  I am so glad I don't have to commute anymore!

Thanksgiving Card

I decided to stop making Halloween cards and turn my attention to Thanksgiving.  Believe it or not it's not too far away!  I'm so glad I purchased an electronic die machine awhile ago.  It has been such a blessing especially after my hand surgery.  I really like SU's stamp set Ride with Me and wanted to use it on a Thanksgiving card loaded with pumpkins.  Here is was I came up with.

I stamped the truck and then made a mask and stamped pumpkins in the truck from SU's stamp set Gather Together.

I used my Spellbinders oval die to cut it out and decorated it with some of my chunky glitter.  My sentiment also came from the Gather Together stamp set.  Some ribbon, a button, twine and gems and the front was complete.  I really like how it turned out.  I'm still on a mission to use up existing products.

My inside sentiment was one if my favorite Michael's stamps and the wheat was from the same stamp set.

Jennifer had her kids birthday party last weekend at the local skating rink.    These kids had a ball!  We are going to have her family party here on her birthday.  I remember skating all the time when I was a kid, but we did it on the sidewalks and streets!  LOL!

Happy Birthday Card

I took a break from making Halloween cards to make a birthday card for my SIL.  I saw this technique at Pinterest and thought I would give it a try.

I used the birthday die from SU.  I cut a piece of adhesive paper the same size as the die and adhered 1/2" strips of different colored paper to it and then cut it with the die.  I thought the different colors looked so neat!  For my sentiments, I used SU's stamp set Birthday Gorgeous on Very Vanilla CS layered on Basic Black and Old Olive CS.

For my inside sentiment, I used SU's stamp set Party with Cake.  I also used a  small strip of DSP to decorate the bottom.  I  love these old stamp sets.  Well, it's back to Halloween!

Pumpkin Halloween Card

Yesterday I was able to finish up another Halloween card I had started
before my surgery.  I used my Woodland Embossing folder from SU on Old Olive CS for my base card and the Harvest Hellos stamp set and coordinating punch for the pumpkins.  I love this set!!

I stamped the pumpkins in Pumpkin Pie ink on different colors and punched them out.  I did the stems separately on Old Olive.

I decided to pop them up with dimensionals and stamped my sentiment and punched it out and added a little bow.  The hardest thing was to make the bow with my hand.  I also added some gems.

For my inside sentiment, I used my favorite stamp and some washi tape.

I also decided to decorate the envelopes.  I love making cards for Halloween!  Now I have to make the hardest one for Jennifer's birthday/Halloween!

Jennifer has been wanting to take horseback riding lessons so she finally got her wish as an early birthday present.

She loved it and can hardly wait to go again!  That's it for this neck of the woods.

Halloween Card

I'm trying not to overdo using my hand while making some Halloween cards.   I used the Halloween Night DSP making these quick and easy cards.

I used the Spooky Cat stamp set from SU for my witches hat and die cut it out with my circle and scallop dies.  My sentiments came from the Paper Pumpkin set I had from years ago.

For my inside sentiment, I used my favorite Halloween stamp and decorated with some washi tape.  It is amazing how $1 stamp from Michael's stamps so well and becomes your go to stamp!!

The weather here is still so nice.  I am in the process of filling the Halloween box for Jennifer, which is proving more difficult this year as all the local stores are having trouble stocking their shelves.  I'm reading about all the cargo ships lined up on the coasts waiting to have their containers unloaded.  This does not bode well for the coming months.  The stores here are already putting quantity limits on their products.  I don't think things will ever get back to the way things were before the pandemic.

I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment.  Have a great weekend!

Halloween Gift Cards

Well, my hand surgery went well. Actually, much better than I thought it would so I decided to finish some cards.  I started making these cards before my hand surgery and all I had left to do was make the holders for the gift cards.  I saw this card on Pinterest and decided to make some for the family!

This card looks like a regular A2 card but when you open it the folds are revealed.  They called it a Dutch Door fold.

It really came together pretty quick.  I used the Spooky Night DSP and layered the square on a piece of Very Vanilla.  On the back, I adhered another piece of DSP so you can see that when the card is opened. Then I attached it to the "door" of the base card. I also die cut some pumpkins from the DSP and popped them up with dimensionals using the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlets.

On the inside, I attached a piece of Very Vanilla CS on the lower right side and stamped on it using the Paper Pumpkin set I used on my last card.  Last night I made the pockets for the gift cards using some more of the DSP.  The BOO is embossed with some white embossing powder!

Some more exciting news is Joe and I became Great Grandparents!!  Sarah had a beautiful baby BOY!!  It is the first boy in the family!  Jennifer is just beside herself that she is a big cousin!

It seems like yesterday that Jennifer was born.  Hard to believe that she will be  8 years old next month!  With Jennifer going back to school I think Daisy is getting lonely!

I want to thank everyone for their emails and good wishes.  I'm feeling much better and hope to make some more cards soon!

Thanks for stopping by,

Nancy
