Birthday Card

This week I needed a birthday card for Jennifer's Dad.  I didn't have a lot of time but this card came together rather quickly, and I like how it turned out.

It was pretty clean and simple.  I used Sky Blue for my base card.  My first layer in Daffodil Yellow was 3 3/4" x 5".  My next layer in Sky Blue was 3 1/4" x 4 3/8".  Using some DSP and Daffodil Yellow I used my balloon punch to make some balloons which I popped up on dimensionals.  My greeting was stamped in Basic Black from SU's Perfect Pairings stamp set.  I used SU's Avant Gardens to make my stems and decorated one balloon with a rhinestone.

I stamped the inside of my card and I was done.  Sometimes I hunt and peck over what paper to use but these colors just seem to go together.  I had a rough week.  On Wed. while going into my craft area my walker tilted and I fell, with my head hitting the desk and ending up on the floor!  I really have no idea how it happened, but I guess that's why they call it an accident.  My glasses went flying but fortunately, my cell phone was within reach and I just started pressing numbers.  The first number was Rachel's as I had just finished talking to her. She didn't answer but I left a message.  The second number was Dave - my daughter's finance.  He didn't answer.  The third number I tried was my daughter who was working an hour away but she called Dave.  Joe had gone to the store for some milk, so I laid on the floor until I heard the garage door open and in came Joe, Dave, Rachel and her boyfriend all at once.  After deciding that nothing was broken, they managed to get me up to my relief.  I had a nice bump on my head and my elbow was tore up a bit.  Today is looks all yellow and green!

Needles to say, I took it easy the rest of the week.  Jeannie and Jennifer came to visit for the day yesterday loaded with dinner and flowers.  Jennifer was so cute.  She wanted to see my boo-boo.  When I uncovered my elbow, her eyes got really big and then carefully covered it up again.  She informed me that she had picked out some tulips for me  so I would feel better.  Gotta love that kid!! So you can see why this card turned out very quick and simple.   Jeannie hung my curtains in the craft room and Joe and Dave brought up some of the furniture, so we are getting there.  We went from warm weather to cold weather with rain and then some snow today.  Personally I have had enough of this weather and am looking forward to spring.  I started some St. Patrick's Day cards and they are laying on my desk lookibg to get finished.  Tomorrow's another day!!

Yummy In My Tummy Shaker Card

I wanted to make something different for Jennifer for Valentine's Day.  I had purchased SU's stamp set Yummy in My Tummy and made this into a shaker card.  It turned out so cute.

I used Real Red CS for my base card - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored in half.  My layer in Black was 4" x 5 1/4" .  I stamped my monster in Basic Black on Whisper White layer of 5" x 3 3/4".  I embossed a window sheet with the sentiment in Bubble Gum Pink and used some foam sheets to create my shaker.  I put in some Sprinkle Embellishments and backed it with some Black CS.  Even with the sentiment, I felt like it needed something else, so I decided to quill two red hearts to put on the front of the card.  I used to do a lot of quilling and really miss it.  There is just so much time in the day for fun!!

I forgot to take a picture before I gave it to her.  By the time I did, she had enjoyed a lot of shaking as you can see with the wrinkle!!  It was such a beautiful day - heat was off and windows opened!!  Tomorrow is going to be even warmer !! Hope you are having a great weekend as well!

Valentine Goodie Bags

I'm almost through making goodies for Valentine's Day!  I just love this holiday!  Today's post is a cute little bag of goodies that I made for the hospital and Wellness Center.  I saw this great VIDEO  at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts Blog.  They came together so easy and quick.  Here are a few that I have left.

Fortunately, I had the little bags, but I'm sure your local craft store has the same sizes.  I made 25 of them in no time,

I need to find a home for these tomorrow, or they will be too tempting for us!  As I was making them, I realized that this little goodie bag could be make for any occasion.  They would have been perfect for Jennifer's daycare - but no candy!  Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day tomorrow!

Sweet & Sassy Heat Boxes

Here is another great idea from Brenda Quintana.  I have loved making all her tutorials with the candy kisses and this one is no exception.  When I saw this I fell in love with it.  I purchased the tutorial on her website - Qbee's Quest.  So far I have only made two of the hearts but hope to make the third one.

This is the largest one.  It was so easy to put together.  Brenda does such an amazing job when she writes up her tutorials.  She is very detailed, which I love, and has lots of pictures which she includes.
Here is a picture of the second one I made.

Jennifer was watching me make this one and told me she wants this one for Valentine's Day.  These cutes hearts could be used for other occasions as well, other than Valentine's Day.  I think I might make these for my daughter's wedding favors.

I'll wrap these hearts up with some other goodies and give the larger ones to the girls and the smaller one to Jennifer.  Joe just finished plowing our driveway.  We got about 5" of snow which wasn't too bad.  But it is still pretty windy outside.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Falling Petals & Treat Box

When I saw this embossing folder, I knew I had to have it.  I just love how it embosses the cards, but when I saw what Brenda did with it I decided that was the card I was going to make for my husband for Valentine's Day.  Check out her VIDEO - you'll love it!  The petals look like little hearts falling!   As usual, I thought I had all the supplies but I didn't have the blush glimmer paper she used.  Thanks to Hobby Lobby they had a nice pink shade.

I love how using ink on the embossing folder shows up the little hearts.

Using the embossing folder on the treat bags turned out really cute as well.

It's hard to see the embossing, but they look so cute!

Here is a picture of the card and treat box together.

I decided to put a little package together for some other Valentine's as well.

I snuck some little kisses in the bags as well.   It was so nice here today - in the 50's.  We loved it!  But the rain is coming in tomorrow, so I won't be able to open the windows.  Well, the new carpet is finished in the back rooms where the girls were, so I am one step closer to having my craft room back!!!  Now to move the furniture back.  It will be like Christmas opening up my boxes that have been sealed for 3 years!

Valentine Goodie Box

I just realized that I didn't post my Valentine goodies I made for the Wellness Center.  I love making crafts for Valentine's Day, especially for my daughter to take to the hospital and the Center.  I urge everyone to look around in their local communities and see where they could brighten some one's day with a special thought for them.  It doesn't take much.  Just the fact that someone thought of them! Well, back to the goodie box.  I haven't made a 2,4,6,8 box in a long time, so this is what I ended up making.  There is a lot of tutorials out there, but it is pretty simple for those who haven't made any. Just cut your CS 5 1/2" by 8 1/4".  You will then be able to get two boxes out of one sheet of CS. Score it on the Portrait side at 2" and on the landscape at 2,4,6 and 8" - thus the name of the box.

Since I make so many, I cut them all out first, put on DSP on the front and back (3 1/4" x 1 3/4") and make some type of greeting.  For these I used a stamp from CardzTV and punch them out with a circle punch.  I do mine assembly style.  You can close them various ways, but when I'm making a lot I choose the easier way, which was bringing them together, punching a hole at the top and tying them together with some ribbon.

I used SU's Sending Love paper stack - I love this paper!  I think I have used half of the pack already!

Here is a picture of one tray of the goodie boxes.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend - getting ready for the Super Bowl.  Unfortunately, our team didn't make it but we'll celebrate anyway!

I submited this Goodie Box to CardzTV Anything Goes Designers Challenge #2.

Valentine Day Card

I have one more card that I made with the Blooming Love set.  The base card for this one is made with SU's Pink Pirouette.  This is such a soft color.  The layer is 3 3/4" x 5" of Whisper White CS.

I cut  2 strips of White Glimmer paper 5" x 1/2" and glued them down the left side of my card.  After I adhered my heart, I die cut some small flowers from the glimmer paper as well.  I decorated them with some rhinestones and adhered them on the heart.  I used dimensionals to pop up the layer.

My sentiment I placed on the bottom of the card.  I really like how this card turned out.  There are so many ways you can use this set of dies.

I entered this card in Dies R Us Challenge #66 Hearts.
