Fringed Birthday Card

I decided to go back and finish making this card that I had started awhile ago as it has been sitting on my desk.  As I have mentioned before - Brenda Quintana - does a CASING Tuesday on her facebook and I thought this card would be a great card to make for some men's birthdays coming up.  Check out her VIDEO for instructions.  I never have all the supplies but manage to substitute what I don't have.

I didn't have some of the colors she used.  I used Tempting Turquoise for my blue, and actually found some cute DSP in a pad that was similar to the DSP she used.  I think this little pad I found was one of the first pads I purchased when I first started scrapbooking.

I didn't have the stamp set she used but thought the SU Birthday Pairing worked fine.  I also used the new Balloon Honeycomb Embellishments for my balloons instead of CS.

I liked how it turned out.  I used the Better Together for the inside sentiment.

I always find it hard to make masculine cards for men, but I think these will work out great.
Everyone is getting ready for a long holiday weekend.  We hope you have a wonderful time with your families and friends!

Sympathy Card

Well, it has been a rough week, but everyone got through it.  I thought I would show you the sympathy card I made for Pat's family.  I was all over the place and couldn't make my mind up, so I decided to take a break and unpack my last box for the craft room and came across the So Detailed Thinlets die set and knew this was what I had been looking for.  I made the base card in Sweet Sugarplum with a layer of Very Vanilla and Falling In Love DSP.

I really liked how this card ended up.  I used the Better Together stamp set for my sentiment along with my matching Sweet Sugarplum ribbon.

I had some adhesive paper from when SU used to sell it and adhered my Very Vanilla paper to it and then used my die cut.  It made it so easy to adhere the die cut to the DSP.  For the inside sentiment, I used a stamp from SU's Rose Wonder.

It is now raining like cats and dogs outside.  Hopefully, the sun will come out this weekend and we can get some yard work done.

Jennifer and Angel Pat

When Jennifer was born, my friend Pat gave her an angel to watch over her.  Pat loved angels and had a large collection of them.  Every now and then Pat would add to Jennifer's collection and when she started to talk she called her Angel Pat!  One of the last pictures I have of Jennifer and her Angel Pat is one I took at Christmas of the two of them after they had spent some time on the "Magic Carpet" that was one of Pat's gifts to her.  They traveled to a lot of places that day and had a great time!  This was one of Pat's favorite picture.

Last night Pat lost her battle with cancer and is now truly Jennifer's Angel Pat.  Pat was a wonderful wife, Mother and Grandmother.  She was also a great friend and will truly be missed.

Tulip Embossing Card

Well, I wanted summer and I think it here!!  It has been in the 90's the past few days, so I am finally getting some things done in my craft room.  A few months ago, a blogger friend of mine - PJ's Projects - sent me this adorable tulip embossing folder.  I put it away as I was starting to move my boxes back in my craft room.  I got it out the other day as I have been making some cards to send to a dear friend of ours who is in the last stages of cancer.  She has come home from the hospital with Hospice and besides going to visit, I have been sending her cards to let her know she is in our thoughts even though we are not with her physically.  This has been an extremely upsetting time for everyone.  She has been in the girls lives since they were babies, and they are so upset with her situation.

I must admit it was harder than I thought it would be to color in the cute little tulips!!  My eyes are definitely not as good as they used to be.  At first I was going to us my Gamsol and pencils but that was a disaster, so I eventually ended up using my SU markers.

I embossed the image in Whisper White and then layered it on Pink Pirouette.  I tied my ribbon around those two layers and adhered them onto a layer of Soft Sky.

My sentiment on the front is just a $1 stamp from Michael's and the inside sentiment is from SU's Whimsical Words stamp set.

I was really happy how the cards turned out and I hope she likes it.  She has always been so appreciative of my cards and craft items that I send her.  It will be a difficult time for her and her family, and any prayers would be appreciated.
