Happy 16th Birthday - Rachel!!!!

Today is Rachel's 16th birthday - Happy Birthday!!!!!  I started this card last week and then realized I had better get my act together as her special day was almost here!  I was so excited on how this card turned out!  I kept thinking about what type of card I wanted to make for her on this special day and when I saw the stamp set Number of Years, I knew it would be perfect for her card, as well as so many others.  This is going to be one of my favorite stamp sets.

I decided to make a center fold card.  I made it in Wisteria Wonder and layered the center folds in some scrap DSP.  I cut out the number 16 with the matching dies to this set and adhered them to a 3 1/2" circle of Whisper White I cut out with my spellbinders dies.  I layered this on a piece of Wisteria Wonder CS cut with my scalloped circle dies.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and I ended up using Perfect Plum ink as the Wisteria Wonder ink wasn't dark enough but I think it matched up pretty good.  I used dimensionals only on one side of the circle for the opening.

This is the inside of the card using sentiments from the same stamp set.  I just love how it turned out!

I had purchased some lavender envelopes from the Scrap Book Show the other week and decided to use the rest of the scrap DSP to decorate the flap.  I hope she likes it!  Besides spending time with her friends to celebrate, the family will be here to help celebrate as well. All the girls are out shopping for Prom dresses.  Rachel has hers but now comes the shoes!!  Oh boy!!  I hope the nasty weather stays away!  I actually had to turn our heat on last night.  No garden planted yet!!

Mother's Day Botanical Garden Card

As I told you last week, I would probably be using SU's Botanical Garden Dies again and here I go!  I have been busy making some birthday cards, but decided I had better start making some Mother's Day cards.  I saw this sketch on Pinterest and really liked it and decided to try it out!  There are so many great ideas there.

This is also a great way to use up those scraps!  For my base card, I made it in Old Olive and layered
a 1 1/2" piece of DSP.  I used the Botanical CS paper for my flowers and Old Olive for my leaves.  My circle is punched out with my SU 2 3/8" punch and the sentiment is another one of those $1 finds from Michael's.

It's hard to tell in the picture, but I used the clear Wink of Stella on the large flower.  I really liked how it made it pop out.  The other week I went to the annual Scrap Booking Show in Allentown, PA. and picked up some of these decorative pens,  Stamps by Judith was there as well, and I brought some of her peg stamps!  I love those stamps.

I also decorated the inside of the card again with a 1/2" piece of matching DSP.  I really like how it dresses up the inside.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Curtain Fold Anniversary Card

Have you seen all the curtain fold cards out on the blogs?  I needed an anniversary card for my daughter and decided to make one.  I was surprised how easy it all came together.

Recipe:

Stamps - Botanicals for You, Party Pants
Ink - Old Olive
Paper - Botanical Garden Pack, DSP - Botanical Gardens
Accessories - Botanical Framelit Dies

There is a lot of great how-to videos on this curtain folding technique.  For my card, I scored my DSP layer (on the long side) 1", 3", 4", 6", 7", 9", 10" and 11" after cutting it 12" x 5 1/2" and then cutting is diagonally 1" from the bottom corner to corner.   I decided to use the sentiments I did, so I could use this for a birthday card as well.  I have decided when making cards  to make as least 2 of each, so I have an extra one on hand.

For the inside I added a small border of DSP on the bottom.  We were watching Jennifer yesterday when my daughter came home from work with the mail.  She loved it!  I really fell in love with this Stamp set and dies, so I'm sure you will be seeing more of them.  The weather here is beautiful and will be for all next week!  Yah! Spring is finally here!  Have a great weekend!

Music Note Birthday Card

Well, it looks like the few nice days we had are turning into a snow forecast for tomorrow!  OMG!  Where is spring??  The card I am posting today I created for my friend's birthday.  She has played the piano all of her life and when I saw this adorable die at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps I knew I had to have it to make cards for her.

It came together so quick and easy!  I used Whisper White for my base A2 card size in landscape mode and layerd a piece of SU Real Red.  The next layer of Whisper White I die cut 3 music notes spacing them out.  For my sentiment I used a $1 stamp from Michael's!  I love those stamps.  I always check out the $ bin when I go there and find something!

For my inside sentiment I used SU's stamp set  Party with Cake in Real Red.  I loved how it turned out - very clean and simple!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Birthday Gift Card

My daughter's stepson's birthday was coming up, and I saw this cute video over on Chic n'Scratch's blog and decided to make some to have on hand.  It seems like the girls are always going to a friend's birthday gathering, and I thought this was a nice way to present a gift card or even money!

I had just ordered the Sketched Dots Tag a Bags, so the timely was just right.  This is also a great way to use up some more scraps of DSP.

Here is what the inside of my gift card looked like.  It was so quick and easy to put together.  You could also change up the stamp set for other occasions.  I love the look of this card - and it fits nicely in the medium white envelope.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!
