Spinner Card for Jennifer

I have been wanting to make a spinner for Jennifer and decided to use SU's stamp set - A Little Wild Bundle.  This set is so cute, and I haven't used it often enough.

I used two of my favorite CS colors - Lemon Lime Twist and More Mustard.  I first used my stitched framelits dies to cut my circle on the layer and front panel of my base card, and then I used my 3D Embossing folder Layering Leaves on my layer.  I stamped, colored and die cut my cute little lion and then cut it apart and trimmed it.  I put some nylon thread in between the front and back of the lion and glued them together and then taped the thread on the front panel and taped the embossed layer over it.  I used my spellbinders scalloped circle dies, cut two and place them over the front and back of the circle.

I used the same stamp set for my inside sentiment, as well as the little flower and bees!  So cute!  You wind the little lion up and then place it in the envelope, so when Jennifer opens the card up it will spin!  Love it!!

Shaped Birdcage Christmas Card

Well, today it is Christmas in July, so I decided to make my first Christmas Card for this season.  I have to admit I always have good intentions but I rarely make many Christmas cards.  I usually make projects for Jennifer to take to school and her teachers, as well as for my daughter to take to the Wellness Center.  Unfortunately, the Wellness Center is still not open and we're not sure whether Jennifer will continue to be home schooled.  Heartfelt Creations recently released the first of their Christmas season collection called Snowy Pines.  It is such a beautiful set and they have so many videos on their website and their designers have outdone themselves with so many beautiful cards for us to CASE.  The first card that I decided to make is that of a shaped birdcage Christmas card.

I was so pleased how it turned out.  I used the poinsettia flowers from one of last year's Christmas collections.  Last year I used stamens on them but decided to try gold prills this year.  The beautiful cardinals, branch and pine cones are part of this year's collection.  I'm not a good colorist, but I think for my first try they turned out pretty good.  I used their dries white adhesive for the snow and of course some glitter. So, I'm pleased to say that I have started making my Christmas cards for this season!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  Stay safe!

Birthday Card

Saturday was my daughter's birthday, so I was trying to decide what card I would make her.  I wanted it to be special as we celebrated not only  her birthday but her College Graduation for her BSN degree, as well as Sarah's Graduation from High School.  Unfortunately, it was a virtual graduation for her which was prerecorded.  They hope to have a real graduation in Sept.  We will see what happens.

She loves to feed the birds and has lots of bird feeders in her yard, so I chose to use the Tweet Cherry Blossoms Collection from Heartfelt Collections.  This is such an adorable collection.

My card base was 6"x 6".  My panels for the front and inside were DSP from the same collection.  I used their Leafy Border die to frame the card and then added two more layers which I distressed.  I then stamped, colored and die cut the rest of the images and made some of the smaller flowers in the collection.  I love the cute little birds.  For the sentiment, I used their stamp set Celebrate Love Sentiments.  Just to create some excitement, I put a wind-up butterfly in the card.  When she opened the card up the the butterfly flew out.  I found them on the web.  They come in so many different colors and are so cute! I put one in Jennifer's card this week as well,

Here is a picture of Margaret and Sarah.  We were going to be outside but it was so hot that we moved the party inside.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

One Wild Ride Birthday Card

I have a lot of birthdays in July and August, so I started making some cards over the weekend.  I needed a masculine card and decided to use SU's stamp set - One Wild Ride.  I have used it in the past and the guys seem to really like it.

This was a quick and simple card which is what I needed.  I used Basic Black CS for my card base and my first layer in Real Red was cut 1/4" smaller layered with 1/8" smaller CS of Very vanilla.  I used Crumb Cake ink for the tire tracks and stamped the image, dust and sentiment in Basic Black.

For my inside sentiment, I used an old $ stamp from Michael's and cut some DSP for the trim.  For a quick card, I think it turned out pretty good.  It has been really hot here.  It seems like we complain about the snow and cold and then the heat.  It looks like most of the country is hot and humid.  As a Jersey girls spending most of my summers at the shore, I miss the ocean breeze!

Rainbow Card

I can't believe that I'm finally posting again!  It has been an interesting few weeks.  My old reliable PC died on me suddenly!  It was fine in the AM and when I went to post this card later in the day - NOTHING!!  I really didn't want to give my PC up but didn't want to spend a lot of money on repairing it as it is pretty old.  Since Joe had been looking for something for my birthday, he talked me into going to look at PC's.  Long story short we purchased one and I'm up and running - I think!  Between getting used to the new PC and the newer version of blogger, it has been interesting!  I think the older one gets we do not like change!!

To get back to my card, it is one I had made for Jennifer.  I saw this over at Jennifer McGuire's blog - Inside Out Cards - and fell in love with this stamp set from Hero's Arts - May Monthly Kit.  Really is was the sentiment - You Make Today Better!  I thought it was so perfect to send to so many people on different occasions.

I didn't have the circle dies she used, so I used my Spellbinders dies instead.  I just love how these cloud dies create such a great scene.

This is the inside of the card.  I have to agree with her as well about the cute little birds.  I wanted to put so many more of them on the card!  I really like how this card came out.  Simple and basic but right to the point!

Hope everyone is doing OK.  I needed a new pair of shoes, so we decided to venture out to the small mall by us.  It had reopened a few weeks ago.  What I thought was going to be a nice outing turned into a disaster!  We always park in the back of the mall as they have a spot for me to ride my scooter into the doors.  All those doors had large sides on - Exit Only!!  So we parked and watched so many people go in and out, so we did the same.  Everyone had masks on which was good.  Went I went to look at the shoes you had to first put these throw away gloves on before you could touch any.  I found one that I liked and decided to take it home to try on.  In front of the cash register they had installed a piece of plexiglass.  The girl asked me to wait while she cleaned the area after she finished with the lady in front of me.  OK.  She then ran my purchase up and gave me a pen to use to sign the receipt.  Not to be a trouble-maker, I had to ask her if she cleaned the pen as well.  Of course, she didn't which was fine, but why go to all this trouble with gloves, throwing them in a protected area, masks, cleaning the counter and handing me a dirty pen?  We then went out the store into the mall while looking at all the signs telling you which way to walk which no one was following.  They had removed all the tables and benches and most of the stores were closed - probably never to reopen again.  We met my daughter and Jennifer at the pizza place we like in the mall for lunch.  They had only a few tables, but the guy recognized us and set a table up for us in the back marked handicapped.  The best thing of the day was we had our favorite pizza again.  Poor Jennifer asked if she had to eat with her mask on, and was pleased she didn't have to.  On the way out she got so upset because she was afraid she would walk to close to people sitting at a table and get the virus!!  Personally, I think this has gotten way out of control.  I don't think we will visit the mall for awhile.  It is a shame, as it is a very tiny mall, and I wonder if it will survive.  I hope so!
