Red Rose Birthday Card

Over the weekend, I finished up a birthday card for my daughter.  She loves red roses so I used my Heartfelt Collection Classic Roses to make her some flowers.  It was the first time I made these flowers and I really liked how they turned out.

I used SU's Real Red CS for my layer and Real Red ink for the flowers and Old Olive ink for the leaves.  The die is Eyelet Oval from Heartfelt Creations as well.  For my sentiment, I used Simon Says Label Die.

For my inside sentiment, I used SU's Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  Beside my daughter's birthday coming up she and Jennifer had a big weekend.  They have been missing Willow so much that they decided to get another dog.  They got a King Charles Cavalier puppy.  Jennifer decided to name her Daisy.  Jeannie took Willow in when her owner passed away as no one wanted her,  so she was full-grown when Jennifer was born.  This will be Jennifer's first puppy.  Needless to say, the house isn't quiet anymore.

We can hardly wait to meet her in person.  She looks so cute!  Jennifer is so in love already.  I have to say she is a pretty smart dog.  When she gets tired she goes right into her crate.  She woke up only once last night and went back to sleep.  Hopefully that will last!

With both of them home I'm sure they will have lots of fun!  I can hardly wait and see what little Joey thinks of her!  That should be interesting! Another nice surprise was that the pansy card that I made Rachel was chosen a favorite of the week.  I thought that was so nice!

Pretty Kitty Card

I made another card to send to Jennifer.  She loves cats as well as dogs, so I decided to make her a  card with SU's Pretty Kitty stamp set.  I have used this stamp set before and I love the images.  When I find a card/image of something that like, I print it out for later use.  I have been making a concentrated effort to go through my pile of papers and finally do something with them.  Either make the project or through the item away.  According to the print date on the paper, this was done a few years ago!  That should tell you how high my pile of papers are!

I used Real Red CS for my base card with Whisper White for my layer.  I embossed it with my heart folder and when I was photographing the card I realized I had placed the hearts upside down!!  Oh well, I wasn't going to throw it out and start over.  I used some red/white twine and Spellbinder dies for my squares to frame my image which I colored light grey.

I used the same stamp set for my inside sentiment and kitty!  Aren't they so cute!!  My daughter told me she is going to get a decorative box for Jennifer to put all my cards in when she can go shopping again as her drawer is full!!  It still hasn't warmed up here much.  We had freezing temperatures every night so far this week.  I have to say though that my flowers are holding up pretty well under these conditions.  I am hoping that some of the quarantines will be lifted soon.  My hair is no longer short!!  Another thing we take for granted.  Please be safe!

Rachel's Birthday Card

I have a few birthdays that are coming up and wanted to try and get a headsstart on making their cards.  The first one is Rachel's.  I can't believe it but she will be turning 20 years old!!  Oh my, where has the time gone!  It seems like yesterday that we were waiting in the hospital waiting room for the big announce whether it was a boy or girl!  She spent a lot of time with Joe and me, and I am sure we  influenced her on some of her likes and dislikes.  One that I am sure of is her love for pansies.  So it was an easy decision what type of card I would make for her.

The first collection from Heartfelt Collections that I purchased was Burst of Spring.  It features stamps, dies and DSP of pansies.  I fell in love with it and so enjoy making the pansies.  These I made using SU's inks - Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Daffodil Delight.  I made the leaves using  Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twistink.

This is a 6"x6" card base with some of the collection's DSP covering it.

For my inside, I used some more of the Burst of Spring DSP.  I just love how all this came together.  I hope she likes it as much as I do.  We had to cancel all the plans we had made to celebrate her special day due to the virus, but we will all get together when this is over.  She and her boyfriend did all the food shopping yesterday for his family, her family and Joe and I!  They will definitely be experts when this is over!  Hopefully, we are coming to an end of our confinement.  Stay safe!

Ladybug Card

I hope everyone is well and safe.  We had a very quiet weekend.  The weather here has been crazy.  Lots of rain and wind.  I hope it settles down soon.  Today's post is another card that I had made to send to Jennifer.  I usually see her on facetime everyday, but she likes to get mail so I have been trying to send her a card every week.  SU's Ladybug Stamp set and Die is just too cute for words.  I immediately fell in love with it.

I used Real Red CS for my base card and Pool Party and Whisper White for my layers.  I just picked some cute ladybugs out, stamped, colored and die cut them.  The sentiments are just as adorable.  I used some red gem stones to brighten up the page.

I used  a sentiment from the stamp set for the inside as well and this cute little ladybug stamp for the border.  I just love them.  I stamped them on the envelope too!!  They make me so happy!!

Jennifer's Easter Card

It was coming down to the wire in making Jennifer's Easter card so I could get it in the mail for her.  I saw some cards using the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set on Pinterest and decided to make one.  Jennifer loves going to her local Tractor Supply store this time of year to see all the little baby chicks and ducks, so I thought it would be perfect.

I used Sugarplum CS for my base card with my layer of Whisper White which I embossed.  I fussy cut out my little chick and used Old Olive CS with my IO Hollyhock die for some greenery.  For my sentiment, I used an old $1 stamp from Michael's that I had in my stash and used Simon Says Stamp Sentiment die to cut it out.  I decided to punch out some butterflies using my Glimmer paper to flutter around.

My inside sentiment came from CardzTV Easter Punnies set that I had won on a challenge.  I decided to use another $1 stamp from Michael's just to add another little chick.  I love how this card turned out and I hope Jennifer will like it as well.  It is going to be a different Easter this year as with many folks spending it alone.  Jennifer wants to facetime with us while she colors eggs, so we will enjoy that event.  I froze the huge ham I had purchased, so I will have to look deep into the freezer and find something for the two of us.  With everything going on, I feel so fortunate that our family so far is safe and sound.  Please keep safe everyone.

Egg Carton Baskets

When I was trying to fine some crafts to make for Easter this year, I came across this idea at DIY.  They took egg cartons and put some dirt discs with seeds into each holder and decorated it for Easter.  I thought it was such a cute idea since all the girls like to plant flowers.  I found some discs at the local store and decided to use some of SU's egg cartons I had left over from the other year.

I decided to color them first.  I used rubbing alcohol and about 20 drops of reinker in my spritzer.  I had never done that before and I think they turned out cute!  Note to self - next time wear gloves!!

When I opened up the package and removed the discs, I realized that the seeds had to be purchased separately!!  Well, there went that idea as we had so packs of seeds in the garage!  We are pretty restricted in PA except for food stores and pharmacies.  If we go out now, the Governor passed an order that we must wear a facemask as well. Rachel and her boyfriend have been doing our shopping for us, so I decided to go another way.

Nothing like some Easter goodies!

I tied them up with some twine and added an Easter sticker for decoration.  I will put these in the kids Easter baskets and we will drop them off in their driveways next week.  No Easter egg hunt this year.  The Easter Bunny will have to go to Jennifer's house this year and we will watch on Facetime.  Thank goodness for Facetime!  Please be safe!
