Wonderous Wreath Flip Card

I decided I wanted to start making some Xmas cards, as my friend came yesterday to stamp and she always likes to work on her Xmas cards.  We had a great time catching up and little stamping!!  I saw this cute flip card - VIDEO - by Brenda Quintana that she made a few years ago.  I had not used my stamp set so, I thought this would easy to make a few cards to get started.  Boy was I wrong!  She made it seem so easy and the concept was but my stamping gave me some trouble.  I have done 2-step stamping before and never had a problem until this card.  I'm not sure if it was my stamp, ink or me.

Every time I stamped the first wreath some leaves on one side wouldn't stamp out.  So I decided to reink my stamp pads.  Well, that helped a bit but not completely.  My cleaner was almost empty, so I broke into my new bottle and that helped some as well.  I always use a foam mat when stamping with clear stamps, but I decided to apply more pressure by standing up.  After several attempts that landed in the garbage , I succeeded somewhat.

They aren't as good as I would like but at some point one has to say enough!!  Making the card is easy if you want to try it.  Brenda does a great job on her video as usual.

It was hard to take a picture of the card open, so you get to look at my finger!!  I can't believe that I made three Xmas cards in July!!  I really don't make a lot of Xmas cards.  I usually make cards for just the family, so we will see how far I get.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Love Today Planner Kit

I have always used a planner.  Even after I retired, I still always used a planner.  So, when SU put out their new planner I was so exited to get one.  I love it.  It's a little bigger than the one I have been using, but I like that so I don't have to squeeze everything into a little box.  I like the additional pages as well.  It is so nice to be able to write notes, directions, etc. and be able to read them.  SU gave a lot of stickers to use with the planner, but to be honest I'm not a sticker girl!!  My granddaughters are and Joe and I have always been wearing stickers on ourselves that they proudly stuck on us!!

When I started putting together my planner, I wondered what I could do to dress up the monthly pages.  I came across this post from The Cow's Whisperer's Creative Cards and was so happy.  Now why didn't I think of it!!  LOL!!  So I decided to try it out and this is what I did for the month of August.  I wanted to stamp sunflowers on the pages, but I wasn't 100% happy how they turned out, but I have11 months to practice!

The flowers were OK but I didn't like how the centers turned out.  For the rest of my stamping I used Over the Rainbow stamp set and some Washi Tape.  I can hardly wait to see what I stamp for the holidays!!

Sympathy Card

This week has gone bye so fast - I can't believe it's Friday already!!  I know I always say that, but think the summer is half over!!  I wasn't sure what I was going to post this week, and then I remembered that I hadn't posted this card.  It is another sympathy card I had made for my daughter to give to my friend Pat's family.

It is very clean and simple, but I liked it.  I used my favorite CS Sweet Sugarplum for the basic card.  I can't seem to put that paper down.  I layered it with a layer of Whisper White, which I had embossed with these little birds.  I have had this folder for a long time and haven't used it much.

I tied some Sweet Sugarplum ribbon around it and stamped my sentiment in Basic Black using the Better Together Stamp set from SU.

For my sentiment on the inside of the card, I used the Stamp set Rose Wonder.  I'm so excited.  My stamping friend from Florida is up and we are going to start getting together and do some stamping.  I like to stamp, but it is so much nicer when you have someone who enjoys the same hobby to do it together.  She likes to work on her Xmas cards when she is up, so maybe this will be an incentive for me to make some.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Get Well Soon Card

While unpacking my boxes and getting my craft room set up again, I came across this SU stamp called Get Well Soup that I had purchased and never used - Yikes!!  So I put it on my list of stamps to use and here is the outcome.

I really liked how it turned out.  I used Powder Pink CS for my base card, and I used my heart embossing folder for my layer of Whisper White.  My image was stamped on a piece of Whisper White 4 x 3 and the other two layers of Crumb Cake and Powder Pink were cut at 4 1/2 x 3.  Then I just randomly placed them together.

I used Basic Black ink for stamping and found some ribbon that was pretty close to the Powder Pink CS for my bow.  I have sworn off buying any ribbon until I use up what I have - which is proving very difficult.  I have to find a better way to store my ribbons so I can see what I have.  My sentiment for the inside of my card came from SU's Pretty Kitty.  I love that stamp set.

We had a great weekend.  The family took Jennifer to a local zoo and we had a wonderful time.  She loved the penguin's swimming around.  I think she was jealous of them in the water as it turned out to be a hot day, but we were blessed with a nice breeze.  We have another busy weekend coming up so I thought I would post this a bit earlier than I normally do.  Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Ombre Birthday Card

I saw this -VIDEO - that Frenchie did with a balloon stamp and I decided to try it.  At first I wasn't too sure if I liked how the balloons turned out, but when I put the entire card together I was happy with it.

I had recently reinked my Bermuda Bay ink pad, so I think that is why my balloons are darker but in the end I liked the contrast.  I didn't have the new Fig CS so I used my Rich Razzleberry CS.

While unpacking, I discovered a bunch of embroidery thread I had which is perfect to use as thread on the cards.  I don't usually decorate the inside of my card that much, but I liked how she stamped the balloon again.

During one of Jennifer's visit, she proceeded to tell me all about what they were learning in daycare about the process of how the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.  I saw this adorable project to make a caterpillar and decided to make it for her.  She loved it!

It was hard to take a picture showing how cute and wiggly it is.  When I gave it to her she asked if she could put eyelash googly eyes on it!!  If you have a little one that would like this cutie check this VIDEO out.  They have a bunch of other things that are really cute.  I made her the bumblebee as she graduated to the next level called the Bumblebees.

Hershey Kisses Stars

I just finished making these cute hershey stars for the picnic tomorrow and thought I would quick post them.  Brenda Quintana made this VIDEO and they came together so quick.

Another great way to use up CS scraps.  I use some old DSP paper that I found that had some stars on them instead of using Thick Whisper White.  I made the tents for those stars in Whisper White.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!!
