Christmas Trees

Well, only a few days left in 2021!  Before the holidays are behind us, I wanted to post these adorable trees that I made.  I originally saw this video on Jennifer McGuire's blog last year and purchased the dies but it was too late to make any, so I stashed them away for this year. I was really proud of myself that I remembered I had them!!  I think they turned out so cute.  I am definitely going to make some more next year in different color greens and mix and match them..

Here is a picture of two of them.

This is the smaller tree.  I made this one alternating branches with CS and felt.  I really liked the look of it but it is not as full looking as the one with all CS.  I decorated it with small gold beads and some thin gold thread I had in my stash that I use for tying on tags.

This one is made with all CS and to me it looks fuller.  I decorated it with tiny pom poms. The stars were punched out with gold glimmer paper.  I used my glue gun to put on the beads and pom poms not glue as Jennifer used.  To me it was a lot easier. The set was from Concord & 9th - Take a Bough Encore Dies, and I found my wood pieces at Hobby Lobby. I made another one with pom poms and found a wooden star that I used on the top instead.  I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that you have a wonderful New Year's.

Christmas Tags

Every year I like to give out candy canes attached to the individual presents.  This year I decided to make Christmas tags out of them.  It was hard to take pictures of them.

I used an old SU stamp set and die Seasonal Chums to make them.  I used these so many times when I was making items for the Wellness Center and decided to brush the dust off of them.  I thought they would be perfect to tie on the candy canes.

This set has a pumpkin, snowman and a reindeer stamps and dies.  I used my zig markers to color them in and tied them on with some ribbon.

I think they turned out so cute!  I plan on wrapping the mittens - which I posted the other week - around them as well and securing them on the individual presents.  Sometimes I wonder how I used to hold a full-time job and get ready for the holidays!  It seems like I am always running behind lately!

I don't know if I will get a chance to post anything else before Christmas, so I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Card

Well, I finally got around to making some Christmas cards.  I had purchase SU's Buffalo Check stamp set quite a while ago and never put any ink to it so I thought I would try it out on some Christmas cards.  Unfortunately, it was not that easy to use even with my stamp positioner tool.  What I thought would be an easy card to put together turned out the other way!

I conditioned my stamp before I used it and stamped with good black ink but had to do it about 5 times.  Even then the black squares were not stamped well.  In the end, I decided to use my black marker and color in the squares before I got some good coloring.

I used SU's Stitched Circles dies, Gina K's sentiment/dies and her Perfect Poinsettia stamp set for the leaves.  I also decorated the front with some tiny peel it stars.

For my sentiment, I used SU's Stamp set Season Like Christmas and embossed it in gold and added another peel it to decorate the inside.  I am going to have to experiment with another stamp color and see if it stamps better than the black.  It could be just the stamp, but I purchased it too long ago to send it back.  That's what I get for not trying out my stamps right away!

Felt Christmas Mittens

I saw this video awhile ago and I fell in love with these adorable mittens and decided to make some for the family this Christmas.  The die set is from Memory Box - Plush Frosty Mitten Style 99308.  They have additional dies that can be used with this die to decorate the mittens, but I only used this one.  It was hard to photograph them, but I finally decided to hang them on some skewers I had.  When I was photographing them, the song about the Three Little Kittens that washed their mittens and hung them out to dry came to mind!  LOL!

I thought it would be so cute if I tied these mittens on the presents for the family.

I had a bunch of different colored felt in my stash, as well as embroidery thread so I was all set to go.

I also used some buttons in my stash as well as some of SU's Christmas Decorative Designer buttons.  I didn't get a close up of the light blue mitten I made for the baby.  I used a giraffe button I had in my stash.  It looked so cute!

Here is a closer look.  I used some of SU's Christmas ribbon for the hanger.  I used the mitten, cuff and snowflake dies before I sewed them together.  I was only going to make a few but once I got started I couldn't stop!!

I'm not an expert seamstress but following the video they came together pretty good!  This is what I have been doing instead of making Christmas cards!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We are getting our first snow flurries for the season.  Jennifer and her friends enjoyed the Christmas lights this past weekend, as well as the ice skating rink that was set up.  They made it of acrylic.  Not as good as ice but they had fun!

Thanksgiving Cards

It has been a busy week so far. but I wanted to post my last Thanksgiving cards that I made.  I really enjoyed putting these cards together.

I used SU's stamp set Gather Together again along with the Woodland embossing folder.  I'm so glad I got this folder as you can use it on so many different types of cards.

I decided to use different colors for my leaves and cut them out with the matching die. I used SU's stamp set Painted Harvest for my sentiment, and  I added some gemstones and tied some twine on the stems.  These cards came together so quick.  Sometimes I find myself struggling to put everything together, but not with these cards.

For my inside sentiment, I used another Michael's stamp and stamped some pumpkins.  It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only a week away.  Everyone is coming here for the holiday so lots to do.  It is so nice here today but unfortunately bad weather is coming in tomorrow.  My daughter Margaret and her husband have been in Florida for the week, so I hope it clears up before we pick them up on Sunday.

Heartfelt Creations Birthday Card

In the midst of making some Thanksgiving cards, I made this card for my friend's birthday.  I used some of my Heartfelt Creations dies - Elegant Pocket, Diamond Basic and Lacy Diamond.  Their dies never cease to amaze me.  The base card was also made from one of them as well.

I was so happy with how this card turned out.  I used the Tweet Cherry Blossoms stamp set and dies for my flowers.  This is one of my favorite sets from Heartfelt.

We had a busy weekend.  Jennifer went rock climbing.  I get dizzy just looking up but she absolutely loved it!  I don't know how high it is but she went right to the top!

Saturday was our 56th Wedding Anniversary.  Ask me where the time has gone!  I feel like it was just yesterday that we got married.  We all went out to dinner and had a great time.  My daughter posted these pictures on Facebook.

Looking at them we wondered who are those people!  Jennifer was looking at our wedding album and said - Nanny you and Poppy look so skinny!!  Out off the mouths of babes! LOL!!

Jennifer's Birthday Card

Happy hump day! When I was working this day meant the weekend was almost here!  This post is about the card I made Jennifer for her birthday.  Those that have been following me since she was born on Halloween know that every year I incorporate the number of pumpkins of how old she is on her card.  Every year it gets a little more challenging!  Here is the card I made this year.

I first used a stencil and blended in some colors to make a background.  Then I used a tree stamp and filled the branches with some cute little pumpkin stickers I had on hand and put the number 8 on the trunk.  For the sentiment and decorations I used some peel offs.

For the inside sentiment, I used one of my favorite Halloween stamps and some more stickers!  I just loved how it turned out!  It was a busy weekend.  Here is a picture of Jennifer coming home from her Halloween Party at school. She was a witch this year.

We had her family birthday party Sunday at our house.  I had to get a picture as everyone was together which doesn't always happen!

Jennifer is quite the baby hog!  She wants to hold the baby all the time!
