4th of July Card

The neighborhood is definitely starting to celebrate the 4th early - lots of fireworks going off!  I decided to make this card for the holiday.

It came together really quick.  I used Brilliant Blue for the base card with the first layer of Whisper White - 5 1/4" x 4". The second layer is Real Red - 5" x 3 3/4" - which I embossed with my star folder.  I love how crisp and clear the embossing is on this folder.  I then used my Cricut to cut out my 2 stars and my small SU punch for the red star, which I glued a red button that I had tied a bow on.  I used my stamp set from SU - July Fourth for my sentiment, punching it out with my large oval punch.  The girls thought it was pretty festive!

We also quickly put together some of our candy wrapper which we always do for the holiday.  See this post for all the directions.

We hope everyone has a great week with lots of fun!

Owl Pillow Treat Boxes

I am in the process of cleaning out my craft room and moving to another room and found some extra pillow box treats that I had made for the girls to give out the last day of school.  I completely forgot to post them.  They came together so quickly and they are so versatile.  You can put a lot of different things inside - money. gift cards, goodies, etc.  Here's a pictures of what was leftover.

If you don't have the SU pillow die, you can get some at Michael's in the Wedding Section.  They are a little smaller and come in different colors.  That's what I used above.  Just punch out circles in your desired DSP and adhere them on the front of the box by staggering them and trim off the edges.  I used my 1 1/4" circle punch above and the 1 3/4"  and 3/4" circle punches for the eyes.  I made the wings using my oval punch and the feet with my heart punch.  If you have a flower punch you can use a petal for the peak or just cut a piece out of your CS.  To make them look more realistic, just curl up the "feathers" forward.  I thought they looked so cute!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  The girls spent it mostly swimming.   Have a good week!

Hexagon Candy Box

Well, the summer has officially started - school is out and I have no idea where the time is going!  I was looking around for some little thing to give the Dad's with their gifts and came across this gem from Papercraft Button.  I just love listening to her youtube videos, and I fell in love with this cute hexagon box she had posted.

I used Pacific Point CS for the box and decorated it with some ribbon I had in my stash from Michael's.  I didn't want to make it too frilly, so I used my stamp from SU called A Round Array with the coordinating punch and popped them up with some dimensionals.   I also used the clear stamp "Dad" from this month's SU Pumpkin box to decorate the clear stamp.

Since my time for making cards for Father's Day is shrinking quickly, I utilized the cards from this month's Pumpkin box to go along with my boxes.  As you can see in this picture, the candy treats are missing!  I decided to treat myself for completing the job!  Peanut Butter Reese's don't last long around me!!

We hope everyone is enjoying the start of summer vacation and all the Dads out there have a wonderful celebration this week!

I have entered this box into Cardz TV Designers 3D Challenge #2 Father Day.

Father's Day Card

Well, it looks like another great weekend - lots of sunshine and beautiful skies!  Sarah, Joe and I have been so under the weather this week with a terrible cold.  We managed to get through the winter with nothing and then finally the germs caught up to us!  I finally had the desire to do some crafting and decided I had better get started making some cards for Father's Day.  I had seen this card last year but never got around to making it so decided to give it a try.

Recipe:

Stamps - Sprinkled Expressions, July Fourth - SU, Michael's
Ink - Real Red
Paper - Whisper White
Accessories - Star Punches

This is an A2 sized card placed on its side.  I decided to stamp my star from Sprinkled Expressions from the bottom to the top.  Then I stamped one of my sentiments on Whisper White and matted it on Real Red and adhered it across the middle of the card.  I just love this $1 stamp from Michael's.  It is my go to stamp!  Then I stamped and punched out several sizes of stars and placed them randomly on the card.

Here is the inside of the card with another $1 stamp from Michael's with a few extra stars for good measure!  I needed a card that came together quickly and this definitely did.  The girls are counting the days until summer vacation - 4 1/2 days to be exact!  Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Easel Card, Drawer & Box

My calendar says it is Saturday - help - where did the week go???  Among household tasks this week, I was looking through Youtube for something to put a special gift in and came across this video from Paper Craft Button.  The best thing about it was she combined the card with a cute little drawer to put your gift in and also had a box to put it in!!  How cute is that!!  Here's the easel card with its little drawer.

Here's a picture of the box it goes in.

And here is the card and box together.

I just loved how this came together.  Her instructions are very good and it didn't take long to make.  Another great way to use up some scraps of paper and some goodies laying around.  The card and drawer fit perfectly into the box.  After the box is closed, I will probably add a bow with a cute tag to it before I give it away.  I think these would be great cards/boxes to make for some graduations coming up.  You could put money, jewelry, gift cards, etc. in the drawer.  Another plus she pointed out in her video is that you can make a bunch of these and storage is so easy by stacking them up and you're ready to go when the time is right.  Love that!!  Hope everybody is ready for a great 3-day weekend!

Jennifer's Baptism Card

Well, it has been a busy week!  We have been busy getting ready for Jennifer's Baptism - which was today.  We just got home and had a wonderful day - even the weather cooperated.  I have to say that she wasn't too happy with the water on her head and she let everyone in the church know it!

I really had never made a Baptism card as I wasn't into card making when Rachel and Sarah were Baptized.  I had an idea of what I wanted to do and finally put it together late last night!  Nothing like waiting to the last minute, but there was a lot of cooking that had to get down first, as everyone came back to my daughter's house after church to celebrate.  Here's what I came up with.

Here is the front of the card.  I used Shimmering White for my base card and layered it with Pretty & Pink after I had embossed it with the embossing folder Framed Tulips by SU.  I had seen videos using the Lattice Die from SU to make a cross and then decorated it with some petal flowers that I have had for years along with some pearls.  Of course I also needed a ribbon.

This was the inside of the card which I computerized and printed out on Pretty & Pink.  Of course, I needed some more pearls and flowers!

I probably overdid the flowers, but I couldn't stop using them.  I loved how the whole thing came together and so did my daughter!

Here's a picture of the cake we had.  I just thought it was soooo pretty!

And here is  a picture of Jennifer after the busy day getting ready for bed!

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and are getting ready to celebrate Memorial Day and the long weekend!

Mother's Day Card

I saw this card on Pinterest and decided to make it for Mother's Day.  In its original design it was a birthday card which makes it so versatile.

Recipe:

Stamp - Mixed Bunch - SU, Michaels Sentiment Stamps
Ink - Old Olive, Melon Mambo - SU
Paper - Whisper White - SU
Accessories - Embossing Folder - Vintage Wallpaper, Blossom Punch
Embellishments - In Color Boutique Details, Strawberry Slush Stretch Trim, Green Sewing Trim

This is an A2 size card with a layer of Whisper White 4" x 4" that I embossed with my folder.  I then adhered my trim around the bottom.  This is a great card to use up old trims, ribbons, etc.  I stamped my image on Whisper White as well and punched it out with my Blossom Punch.  Before I popped it up on the layer, I secured some trim behind it as well as placed my colored detail.  I also popped up my layer and then stamped my sentiment on the bottom and the card was done.  My Happy Mother's Day sentiment was stamped on the inside.  I made a bunch of these in different colors and left some plain for future use.

Everyone in the Pansy Patch would like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all those Moms out there....and a special wish for my daughter Jeannie on her first Mother's Day!!  She and Jennifer came to visit yesterday and we had a great time!
