Rachel's Birthday Card

I have a few cards that I have wanted  to post but here it is - another week starting!  I am trying to get caught up but life seems to get in the way!  This card I made for Rachel's birthday.  Hard to believe our first Grandchild turned 25!

She loves butterflies, so I chose this stencil called Butterfly Garden from Gina K.  I did some ink blending with some pink and purple colors and framed it with black CS and used SU's Highland Heather CS for my base card using Gina's ML#2.  For my sentiment, I used Gina K's Holiday Floral Poly-glaze/die with her lavender foil and sprinkled some gems around to make the butterflies sparkle.

My inside sentiment was from SU's Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.  I used some leftover blended stencil paper to decorate the side of the card.   I love how the butterfly stencil turned out!  I will definitely be using it again.

Happy Birthday Rachel

Today Rachel turns 24!!  Oh my!!  Where has the time gone?  It seems like yesterday that she encouraged  me to start a blog.  We had a family get together this weekend to celebrate her and my daughter Jeannie's birthday which is next weekend as Jennifer will be with her Father.  It was a beautiful day.  We have switched from heat to air-conditioning over night!!  Since Rachel came up with the name of my blog, I decided to make her a birthday card of pansies which she loves as much as I do.

I saw this technique on Running with Scissors and thought it was so beautiful.  It is a Split Front technique.  For those whom want to try this she has a link to a how-to video that Patti from PS Paper Crafts made.  I have been hoarding this DSP for years and finally decided to make the cut for Rachel's birthday card as she loves these colors.  The base CS is SU's Mossy Green and I used Gina K's  tapestry embossing folder on SU's Brushed Gold CS.  I decided to fussy cut a few of the pansies from the DSP and used 3D Galaxy Gloss on them which I think made them stand out so pretty.  I have been trying to use up some of my gems from SU and thought these Speckled Dots would look nice as the pansies centers.

For my sentiment on the front and inside the card, I used SU's Pansy Patch stamp set and I added another Pansy to finish up the inside of the card.  Rachel took the day off from work, so we are taking her to dinner tonight at the Cheesecake Factory which just opened up by us,  We have never been there, but with cheesecake for dessert I don't think we can go wrong!!

Birthday Card for Rachel

These birthdays are coming fast - one right after another!  We celebrated Rachel's birthday this weekend.  Hard to believe that she turned 23!!  The weather was miserable here over the weekend, but the rain held off so we could get into and out of the restaurant without getting drenched.  We had a nice time especially when it came to the desserts!  I was looking through my stamps trying to decide what type of card to make and chose a Gina K stamp set called Spread Your Wings.  My friend had gifted me this recently and it was the perfect stamp to use as she likes butterflies.

I used SU's CS Highland Heather for my base card and stamped the image with black ink using my Prismacolor pencils with Gamsol for the coloring.  The only thing I wish I had done differently would have been to emboss the image so it would have stood out more.  I love the sentiments that are with this stamp set.  I also used SU's Very Best Trio Punch for my CS.

For my inside sentiments, I used SU's Parisian Beauty and Perennial Birthday.

Here is a picture of Rachel with her Mom and Jennifer plus her duck.  She doesn't go too far with it!!  LOL!  My other daughter's birthday is Thursday so back to the craft room!

Rachel's Birthday Card

Well, here I am making Rachel's 21st birthday card - now this is hard to believe!!  It seems like yesterday we were rushing to the hospital to see her being born!  No matter how old she is she loves her sweets, so I decided to make her card with the Sugarspun Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  I have used this set on numerous occasions and love how it all comes together.

I made a 6" x 6" base card and layered it with some of the collection's DSP.  Then I used their Petite Pockets Accents and Eyelets Oval dies and embossed the smaller oval with my Swiss Dots folder.  I used some of the other stamps and dies in the collection and colored them in with Zig markers.  I sprinkled some glitter on the sweets and added some prills for decoration on the cupcake.  I even die cut the cute little tag from the collection as well.

I used some more DSP from the collection for my inside layer.  I love how everything matches.  I was really happy how it turned out!  We woke up this AM with a dusting of snow!!  This weather is crazy!  It is suppose to warm up next week thank goodness!  Have a great weekend!

Easter Card and Goodies

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  The weather was so nice here yesterday especially for the Easter Egg Hunt!  Daisy participated in the hunt and helped find lots of eggs with Jennifer.  Easter came so fast this year we were busy crafting and cooking up to the very end!  I really liked how Jennifer's card turned out.  I ended up making it a 6"x 6" using different dies along the way and punches for the bunnies!  Jennifer liked their puffy tails!

The dies were from Heartfelt Creations and Spellbinders.  For the inside sentiment, I used an old $1 stamp from Michael's and a cute carrot ped stamp from Stamps by Judith.

On Friday Jennifer came up to visit us and we made these cute little bunny houses that I saw on Pinterest.  They are made out of graham crackers.  I tried to use some icing to put them together but it didn't work out so well, so we went with the glue gun!  She used the icing for the roofs and decorated them with some Easter M&M's.  She made one for Rachel and Sarah as well and put the little bunnies inside!  They turned out so cute!

I put the girls Easter goodies in bags this year and decorated them with some chipboard tags I had purchased from the craft show the other year.

I glued the little bunnies on and used glass glitter to decorate them.

Today was an exciting day for Rachel.  She got her first car.  It is a 2013 Hundai Elantra.  Hard to believe!   Time is going by so fast!

Cool Treats Birthday Card

I had made this card for Rachel's 17th birthday which was last Sunday.  Unfortunately, instead of celebrating her birthday, I spent the day in the ER.  What a mess!  While getting ready, for some reason, my right leg collapsed on me and I ended up with a fractured right ankle!!  So instead of eating cake, I was getting x-rays of my foot, ankle and knee.  I won't bore you with the details, but I'm not a happy camper.  The next day we went to an ankle specialist and they gave me a walking boot - thank God!!

So all week I have been getting used to the boot and crying!!  I have to go back next week for follow-up x-rays to make sure the fractures are healing.  When I did feel like sitting and posting, my Internet went out for 2 days which brings me to today when it finally came back on.  My service provider is changing everything this month, so I'm sure it has something to do with that.

When I saw this stamp set from SU, I fell in love with it.  Rachel and I have a long history of eating popsicles together from when she was a little girl.  I figured she would love this card which she did.  It bought back a lot of good memories.

I used Pool Party for my base card with my first layer of Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4".  My layer of Watermelon Wonder is 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" and my DSP measures 3" x 4 1/4".  I used my Frozen Treats Dies to cut out my pops in Watermelon Wonder ad More Mustard.

I tied some ribbon around my two layers before I adhered them.  Then I popped up my pops with dimensionals and tied some twine around them.  My sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set from SU.

The inside sentiment is from Cool Treats as well.  Here is a picture of Rachel and her Mom on her birthday.  It is hard to believe that she is 17!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I really have no idea where the past week went.  I am hoping for some warmeer weather though as I already feel housebound.

Diaper Fold Packaging

Along with the card that I posted for Jennifer to give her Mom, I needed some type of packaging to put her gift in.  I had seen these cute Diaper Folds in all different sizes which was just what I was looking for.  I like checking out Stamping to Share's blog, and she showcased the Diaper Fold in different sizes -  Check out her video.

I made the 10" size and it was perfect for what I needed.  I don't know why I had never seen these before, but I think they are great and will use them again in the future,  I just stuck a bow on the front as I didn't have a lot of time, but you could decorate these in many different ways.  Here is another way to use up some of your scrap/old DSP.

UPDATE:

A blogger friend of mine liked this Diaper Fold post and made a really cute one for Father's Day and another one where she made an adorable Flower Pot card to put inside with some goodies!

Check out her blog and see how cute they turned out - PJ's Projects!

Here is a picture of Rachel and her boyfriend before going to the prom.

I thought this was a cute picture of Rachel and Sarah.

The girls and their Mom were down at LBI - Long Beach Island for the holiday and came home today.  Everyone had a great time and the weather was good.  Jennifer stopped by to see us yesterday and we had a great time. Boy does she like hot dogs and corn on the cob!!   Everyone is growing up way too quickly.  Well, its going to be a short week - thank goodness!

We hope everyone had a great holiday weekend spending time with their family and friends!  Have a great week!

Happy 16th Birthday - Rachel!!!!

Today is Rachel's 16th birthday - Happy Birthday!!!!!  I started this card last week and then realized I had better get my act together as her special day was almost here!  I was so excited on how this card turned out!  I kept thinking about what type of card I wanted to make for her on this special day and when I saw the stamp set Number of Years, I knew it would be perfect for her card, as well as so many others.  This is going to be one of my favorite stamp sets.

I decided to make a center fold card.  I made it in Wisteria Wonder and layered the center folds in some scrap DSP.  I cut out the number 16 with the matching dies to this set and adhered them to a 3 1/2" circle of Whisper White I cut out with my spellbinders dies.  I layered this on a piece of Wisteria Wonder CS cut with my scalloped circle dies.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and I ended up using Perfect Plum ink as the Wisteria Wonder ink wasn't dark enough but I think it matched up pretty good.  I used dimensionals only on one side of the circle for the opening.

This is the inside of the card using sentiments from the same stamp set.  I just love how it turned out!

I had purchased some lavender envelopes from the Scrap Book Show the other week and decided to use the rest of the scrap DSP to decorate the flap.  I hope she likes it!  Besides spending time with her friends to celebrate, the family will be here to help celebrate as well. All the girls are out shopping for Prom dresses.  Rachel has hers but now comes the shoes!!  Oh boy!!  I hope the nasty weather stays away!  I actually had to turn our heat on last night.  No garden planted yet!!

Happy Birthday Rachel!!!!

We had Rachel's family birthday party this past weekend, but today is the big day!!  It's hard to believe that 15 years ago we were waiting, and waiting, and waiting in the hospital room for her to come into the world.  And today she is 15 years old!!  I wanted to make a card just for her that she would like and she did!!

Recipe:

Paper - Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, DSP - Best Year Ever
Stamps - Teeny Tiny Wishes, Birthday stamp from Michael's $ bin
Ink - Stazon
Accessories - Striped Embossing Folder, Ruffled Trim
Punches - Modern Label, Scalloped Tag, Word Window, Cupcake Builder, Circle Punch

This card came together so quickly and I loved how it turned out.  I used some dazzling diamonds on the cupcake to give it some sparkle.

I decided to decorate the inside as well and punched out some of the DSP circles.

Happy Birthday Rachel!!!!
We Love You!!!

Happy Birthday Rachel!!!!

We had a great day yesterday celebrating Rachel's 14th birthday - the weather even cooperated for a change!  Here is the card I made for her.

Recipe:

Stamps - Remembering your birthday , Flower Shop - SU
Ink - Island Indigo - SU
Paper - Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, DSP, Wisher White - SU
Accessories - Ovals Collection, Banner Dies and Flower Shop Punch
Embellishments - Large Pearls

This card came together really quick.  It is an A2 sized card with DSP layer of 4" x 5 1/4".   I stamped out my saying on the oval dies I had cut out and placed them on the card with the banner die cutouts.  Then I punched out my pansies decorating them with some pearls and adhered them to my card.

Here is the inside sentiment.  I thought it was so cute!

Rachel loved it!

Here's a picture I snapped of Rachel, Sarah and Jennifer.  Jennifer loved looking at the balloons!  Today is my youngest daughter's birthday - Jennifer's Mom's - Happy Birthday Jeannie!  And the month is just starting!!
