Jennifer's Birthday Card

Happy hump day! When I was working this day meant the weekend was almost here!  This post is about the card I made Jennifer for her birthday.  Those that have been following me since she was born on Halloween know that every year I incorporate the number of pumpkins of how old she is on her card.  Every year it gets a little more challenging!  Here is the card I made this year.

I first used a stencil and blended in some colors to make a background.  Then I used a tree stamp and filled the branches with some cute little pumpkin stickers I had on hand and put the number 8 on the trunk.  For the sentiment and decorations I used some peel offs.

For the inside sentiment, I used one of my favorite Halloween stamps and some more stickers!  I just loved how it turned out!  It was a busy weekend.  Here is a picture of Jennifer coming home from her Halloween Party at school. She was a witch this year.

We had her family birthday party Sunday at our house.  I had to get a picture as everyone was together which doesn't always happen!

Jennifer is quite the baby hog!  She wants to hold the baby all the time!

Happy Birthday Jennifer!!

Well, it is hard to believe that Jennifer is 6 years old today!  It seems like only yesterday that we were rushing to the hospital.  She is celebrating her birthday on Sat. with all her friends at Sky Zone and her family party will be held after that, so she will have a busy day.  If you follow me, you know that when I make her birthday card I put the number of pumpkins on her card that is her new age.  This will be interesting as the years go by!

For this year's card, I used Old Olive for my card base with my first layer of Pumpkin Pie.  My second layer was Old Olive again and I punched out a circle so my number 6 could show through.  I used my Large # Framelit die and cut out 4 and glued them together in Basic Black and put some gloss on them.  I placed 6 pumpkins around to show her age and tied up some ribbon on the bottom on the layer.

For my inside sentiment, I used my Perfect Pairings stamp set from SU and used another larger pumpkin sticker as well.  It came together pretty quick.  The kids are going to have to wear their raincoats tonight as it is pretty nasty around here.  Most of the towns changed Halloween to tomorrow but ours is still on for tonight.

Jennifer's Birthday Card

Well, I finished up Jennifer's 5th birthday card.  Ever since she was born on Halloween, her Mom has her birthday picture taken with the number of pumpkins that she is old.  I don't know what she will do when she reaches 21!!  So I decided to make he card with 5 pumpkins on it.  I used thick Very Vanilla CS for my base card and my layer of Old Olive was embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.

I used the # of Years die to cut out my #5 in orange glimmer paper and mounted it on some cardboard so it would stand out better and popped it up.  My sentiment was also from the # of Years stamp set.  I used the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlets Dies to cut out some pumpkins from last year's Halloween DSP.  For my inside, I used the Party Pop up die for my birthday sentiment.

I cut my CS 1/2 smaller and colored in my greeting.  In the Ready to Pop stamp set they had this cute stamp that reminded me of a vine which I stamped on each side in Old Olive.  Then I fussy cut some small pumpkins from the DSP.  I really liked how it turned out.

Since I'm not mailing the card, I put some extra pumpkins on the envelope.  Now all I have to do is wrap up her presents and get to NJ tomorrow before 10AM.  Grandma's party is in the afternoon, so it will be a busy day tomorrow.  We are definitely going to miss celebrating her birthday on Halloween, but I'm sure she will have lots to tell when they get home from Disney!  Have a great weekend!

Jennifer's Recordable Birthday Card

I am in the midst of playing catch-up!  These days are flying bye.  It has been a busy week with Jennifer's birthday and then with everyone here celebrating Halloween.  My daughter has also started moving things into their new home so chaos is everywhere!  Poor little Joey - their Chihuahua - is so confused he is following me around everywhere!  I wanted to show you the birthday card that I made Jennifer.  I was so pleased how it turned out!  I had made her a recordable card for her 1st birthday and she loves to play it, so I decided to make her another one.  I took me awhile to find one which was buried in craft stuff but after a good hour I finally found it.

I had purchased a few of these from SU.  I don't think they sell then anymore.  I layered a piece of DSP on the front flap and then a layer of Daffodil Delight.  I used SU's Honeycomb Happiness stamp set and the # of Years set.  I stamped the little bird twice - once on the layer and then one on the Perfectly Artistically DSP (the beige side) and shaded his little tummy.  I stamped my balloon on the layer and then fussy cut the bird out and adhered is over the stamped bird on the layer.  It basically created a mask.  I stamped the balloon again on the same DSP, cut that out and placed it over the stamped balloon.  For the birthday hat, I used the Hello stamp set and cut it out as well.  I die cut the number 3 from the same DSP, as well as with some thin cardboard to give it some depth.

Here is the inside of the card.  After we recorded our sentiment, I made a template using my circle punches, so only the play and sound would not be covered.  This way she won't be able to press the wrong button and erase over the recording.

For the other side of the card, I just layer a piece of the same DSP that I had used on the front.  She loved it!

When we got to her house for her party last Saturday this is what greeted us!

My daughter and her husband surprised her with a bounce house.  Boy did the kids love this.  They even had a slide inside that one could go down on and she actually did!  Even my husband went in - but not for long!  Oh, to be young again!

Here is a picture of her birthday cake - Princess Sophia - that is her favorite right now!

Before the festivities started my daughter got a picture of the birthday girl.  They always have the number of pumpkins that is her age.  We'll see how long this lasts.

This picture is her on Halloween in her giraffe costume!  They had a cute parade in daycare and these are the goodie bags I made for her to give the kids!

The girls had a ball with her this year,  She was definitely into going "trick or treating".  Today is our 51st Wedding Anniversary!  We decided to sneak out and go to our favorite restaurant for dinner. It was delicious!  I don't think I will eat for at least 48 hours!  Hope everyone has a great week!

Jennifer's Birthday Card

Well, we're back after having a great time checking out our favorite spots in New England.  Just in time to get ready for Thanksgiving!!  Am I the only one that thinks time is flying by way too fast!!  Uploading my pictures, I realized that I did not post Jennifer's birthday card.  She loves ladybugs which is what she was for Halloween, so I decided to make a card with some ladybugs on it wishing her Happy Birthday!

I made an A2 size card in Whisper White and punched out their little bodies with some scraps of SU DSP.  Using matching CS, I punched out their heads and popped them up with some dimensionals and gave them some wiggle eyes.  I used my Black SU marker and made some legs.  I put this on another layer of Whisper White which I adhered to my base card.

Since Jennifer's birthday is on Halloween, I try to combine both her birthday wishes and Halloween.  On the inside of her card,  I stamped a birthday cake and colored it in and placed a Halloween sticker I had on the opposite side of the card.  When she opened it up she was so excited with the little ladybugs!!

Jennifer's Birthday Card

With all that has been going on lately, I hadn't started Jennifer's birthday card, so I was short on time and ideas.  Sorting through a drawer for something in my craft room I came across some SU Sound cards I had purchased awhile ago which gave me an idea for Jennifer's card.  This is the front of the card.  I used my Fun Fest die to cut out a pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie and stamped a #1 on it.  The sentiment stamp I have had for years that I purchased for $1 at Michael's bin.  You have to love that $1 bin!  I had some corn brads and leftover Halloween ribbon to finished off the front of the card.

For the inside I made a template using my 1" and 1/2" circle punch and cut out that side of the card in Whisper White.  This way the unnecessary buttons are covered.  Joe and I recorded our message and I adhered it to the card.  I used my Cupcake Punch to decorate the middle of this side of the card.  On the opposite side, I put a layer of Pumpkin Pie where I wrote our message to Jennifer.  On the back of the card I put another layer of Pumpkin Pie to finish it off.

I was really pleased with the results.  The card comes in a white box which made it perfect to give and save.  Now she can hear our voices even when we aren't with her - which is rare!!!

We hope everyone had a great Halloween!  We had such a great time at Jennifer's birthday.  Here she is riding the Ladybug Rocker we gave her.  She was so excited with it!

Here's a picture of her pumpkin birthday cake.

I think she will have lots of fun in the future celebrating her birthday and Halloween!  This year she was a pumpkin!

Well, we had everyone over at our house today as our town had Halloween today.  The girls had a great time going trick or treating!  Now I'm going to go check out their bags for some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!  Have a great week!
