Every year I have made reindeer food for Rachel and Sarah, and now for Jennifer and her friends at school. This year was no exception, except that I got it done just under the wire as my daughter decided to take off the week before Christmas and needed the food ASAP. I saw a bunch of different treats on Youtube, but I saw one using the plastic bottles and decided to make that one. You can put anything you really want for the treat, as long as it is edible and safe for the little critters outside.
First I mixed everything together and then put them into the little treat bottles. I decided to wrap a piece of tape around the top as the corks did not stay in too tight - ask me how I found that out!
I then copied the poem and cut them out and mounted them on some CS. There are a lot of them on the web.
For the actual holder, I used CS 11 1/2" X 2" and scored it at 2 1/4", 3", 5 1/4" and 6". Before putting it together I used my 3/4" circle to punch out the hole so the tube will fit in nice and snug. Then I cut out some DSP 1/8" smaller for decoration and adhered it together. On the top of the holder, I used my scalloped punch.
I used some felt Christmas decorations I had and decorated the front of the holder. I then tied on the poem through the hole with some twine. I packaged each holder in a decorative plastic bag with a few candy canes, and tied them off with the little reindeer tag.
I then put them into a basket and sent along a bag of candy canes - slowly I'm using them up!!
Jennifer loved passing them out to her friends. She is so excited. They are going to go to New York City tomorrow to see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. Tomorrow is the last day of school for the girls, so everyone is ready to celebrate. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a very Merry Christmas!!

Magic Reindeer Food
Well, it is a snowy, rainy and cold day! We got a few inches of snow overnight, but the weather is suppose to warm up and melt everything - yeah!! Jennifer wanted me to make her friends some Reindeer Food packets so she could hand them out yesterday at her Christmas Concert! It was so cute! She is the smallest one in the group! They were singing "We Wish you a Merry Xmas" as I knew because she had been practicing it was weeks! The kids did such a good job and loved the Reindeer Food!
Jennifer helped mixed all the goodies together - oatmeal, raisins, sprinkles - anything edible. Then I proceeded to make the little boxes to hold the packets. Every year I make a different variety and this year it was from Chic N' Scratch. Here is her VIDEO. Last year I made this one - Magic Reindeer Food.
Here are the packets all finished. I loved using the Cookie Cutter Christmas. Since I didn't want the kids to open them before Xmas Eve, I decided to wrap them up again to make it easier for them to take home,
I just put them in a cello bag, tied them up with some ribbon and printed out a sentiment - Merry Christmas - Love Jennifer.
I found an old red basket, decorated it up with some ribbon and doilies and put all the Reindeer Food inside, Jennifer loved taking it to school. Well, I hope everyone is having a good weekend and that you are warm and cozy!!

Reindeer Food
The girls came home from school today and reminded me that I didn't yet make Jennifer Reindeer Food!! Boy, did that bring back memories - I used to make tons of Reindeer Food for the girls and all their friends, but haven't made any for a few years. I almost forgot!! Here's a picture of the back of the package. There are so many different ways you can present this, but I love using the Top Note die from SU to make the seal for my food. There are also lots of different poems out there, this one is the one I had actually saved on my PC! Just stuff a baggie with goodies (all animal friendly). I used oatmeal and different sprinkles which I had in the pantry. I didn't have edible glitter or raisin which really make it pretty. Just staple it shut and you're good to go! The girls used to love doing this after Christmas Eve dinner before they went to bed.
The front of my package I used my SU Jolly Jingle Bits reindeer stamp and punched out paper with my 1", 1 1/4", 1 3/8" and scalloped punches. After I colored his cute little note red, I put Crystal Effects on it and it looks so cute! Tie a ribbon on the top and its complete.
Jennifer is coming over tomorrow to make cookies with the girls, so I'll give it to her then as we won't see her Christmas Eve. I decided to tie on a snowman that I made the other day for her to take home and put on the tree next to her candle light holder I had made her. She loves watching it shine in the tree!
I just looked out the window and can't see a thing! The fog has moved in. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere tonight or drive home from work - one good thing about retirement!!!
