Today Rachel turns 24!! Oh my!! Where has the time gone? It seems like yesterday that she encouraged me to start a blog. We had a family get together this weekend to celebrate her and my daughter Jeannie's birthday which is next weekend as Jennifer will be with her Father. It was a beautiful day. We have switched from heat to air-conditioning over night!! Since Rachel came up with the name of my blog, I decided to make her a birthday card of pansies which she loves as much as I do.
I saw this technique on Running with Scissors and thought it was so beautiful. It is a Split Front technique. For those whom want to try this she has a link to a how-to video that Patti from PS Paper Crafts made. I have been hoarding this DSP for years and finally decided to make the cut for Rachel's birthday card as she loves these colors. The base CS is SU's Mossy Green and I used Gina K's tapestry embossing folder on SU's Brushed Gold CS. I decided to fussy cut a few of the pansies from the DSP and used 3D Galaxy Gloss on them which I think made them stand out so pretty. I have been trying to use up some of my gems from SU and thought these Speckled Dots would look nice as the pansies centers.
For my sentiment on the front and inside the card, I used SU's Pansy Patch stamp set and I added another Pansy to finish up the inside of the card. Rachel took the day off from work, so we are taking her to dinner tonight at the Cheesecake Factory which just opened up by us, We have never been there, but with cheesecake for dessert I don't think we can go wrong!!
I entered this post over at - Can You Handle the Pressure Challenge.

Gorgeous card! Great job! Love it and I'm certain Rachel will love it too.
You did an amazing job on this card and it's absolutely gorgeous! I love the gloss on the pansies you cut. They make beautiful accents. My friend made one of these split front cards with the center strip embossed and I thought it was such a great idea. It's all definitely on my list to do again. Thanks for the mention. Happy birthday to Rachel and Jeannie!
creative work...
Happy birthday to Rachel!
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. 5 stars out of 5 stars.
