Cute Little Valentine Treat Box

The girls had no school again today, so they finished up some treat boxes they were making for their friends.  I saw this tiny box made with the envelope punch board on Poodles blog and knew it would be perfect for the girls.  They're not into giving cards away anymore but wanted something small they could give their friends.  I think they turned out so cute!

Here's a picture of what's left over that I'll send to the Wellness Center with my daughter along with the other treat bags I had made earlier.  Another project to use my scraps - Yea!!!!  Two Hershey's Kisses fit perfectly in the bottom.  You can rest assured that there were no kisses left over!!  I'm in the process of finishing up some other projects I made - I love this time of year!!

Valentine Cards

I have been so involved in making "goodies" for Valentine Day's that I decided I had better make some cards or it will be too late to send them.  I saw a lot of these heart cards on blogs and decided to make some and use up some more of my scrap paper.  I so want to purchase new paper but am determined to use up the old stuff first!

These came together very quick.  I used an A2 size card for the base in whisper white with another layer of whisper white cut 1/8" smaller.  I added 2 1/2" DSP in the middle and then cut out several hearts of different sizes with my punches.  I decided that it needed something else, so I tied a ribbon and adhered it on the left side of the card.  I also put some hearts on the inside along with my sentiment.  I still have a lot of scrap paper to go!!

More snow is on its way so maybe I'll be able to finish up the rest of my projects.  The groundhog said "6 more weeks of winter" - what fun!

Blossom Paper Flowers

Last week I finally got a chance to do some crafting with my friend Denise.  She brought over some new SU tools to play with and we had a great time.  Before she left I asked if she wanted to make some paper flowers. The girls and I were checking out youtube awhile ago, as they wanted to make some paper flowers, and we came across this video.  I just loved how they looked.  The video was made by ddstamps so check it out for all the details.

These flowers were so easy to make and came together quickly.  I used whisper white paper and sponged them with melon mambo, red real and pixie pink.  I can see so many uses for these.  I'm going to try other flower punches as well.

The girls are home today and probably tomorrow as well with the snowstorm hitting the northeast!  I can see our Easter vacation days disappearing fast!  Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe!

Valentine Treat Bags

Well, I can't believe that I'm working on Valentine projects - but I am!!  I saw this cute little treat bag over at Papercraft Button's blog and decided to try it out.  When put together they measure just over 2" x 2"which is just the size I wanted.

These came together really quick and the best thing was that I used up a lot of scrap paper!!!  When I moved my scrap room this summer I found a bunch of Mat Stacks (6 1/2" x 4 1/2") by Diecuts with a View.  I remember buying these years ago when I first started scrap booking.  These were perfect for this project.  I just tore out a bunch of red/pink papers and started scoring.  I used my scalloped tag topper punch from SU for the flap and my 3/4" circle punch.  My little heart is a cute little punch that the girls had from American Girl.  I had a regular heart punch, but I liked how the heart looked with tiny scallops.

A few tips if you decide to make these.  After you score, make sure that the side you cutup  into is the smaller measurement side.  I did the opposite side first and the bottom won't come together correctly. Tying it together with the twine works better if you put the twine down into the hole, wrap it around and use a paper clip to hold the flap down while you tie your bow.  Works great when you have a lot to tie together.  I made about 30 bags and it probably took about 2 hours to complete.  I put a Dove's chocolate heart in each bag!

I haven't been able to do much crafting lately so it feels good to get something accomplished.  It's a special day here - Rachel is at the orthodontist getting her braces off after 3 1/2 years!!!  She can hardy wait!  No cutting off the corn on the cob for her this summer!

Christmas Stars

Well, Christmas is almost here - are you ready???  We're not!!  Everyone here has been so sick which makes everyday life a little more challenging.  I finally came down with the nasty bug and spent last Sunday in the ER.  Acute bronchitis is not anything I wish on anyone.  Everyone is still coughing - even little Jennifer!  This definitely put a crimp in our schedule.  I had started making these cute stars back in November - thank God - for the Wellness Center folks and just finished them up last night!  I had purchased the Many Merry set from SU.  I'm sure you have seen them around the blogs.  I thought they would be something nice for them to keep from year to year.

The girls only have two more days of school and are looking forward to some down time.  Everyone in the Pansy Patch would like to wish everyone and their families a Very Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday season!!

Advent Boxes

Someone asked me the other day if I was ready for Thanksgiving - my answer was NO!!!!!  For some reason I thought we had another week to go.  So I started cooking this weekend, as we always have Thanksgiving and then realized that next Monday is December 1st!!  I have been wanting to make something for the girls for Advent and found these cute Advent boxes over at Paper Craft Button's blog.  I decided that I had better start making them or the idea will be put away for another year.

They came together pretty quick.  Sarah felt sorry for me when she came out of her room and found me deep in papers, stamps and ink and helped me cut them out.  I used SU's Trim The Tree Designer Series Paper Pack and their gold and silver baker's twine.  I didn't have the punch she used but found my small scalloped circle punch worked out fine.  I finally found my Gel-a-tins number stamps buried in the bottom of my punch drawer.  I used these to make flash cards for the girls and they are great stamps!  I always used my small star punch on silver and gold SU paper to decorate the box.  There are so many other ways you can dress them up.  The best part was filling them with candy - one for the box and one for me!!

I haven't decided where I'm going to hang these cute boxes if my tree isn't up by the 1st!  I may just arrange them on the kitchen door in the shape of a Xmas Tree or wreath.  Everyone in the Pansy Patch would like to wish you all a wonderful Happy Thanksgiving!!

Jennifer's Birthday Card

With all that has been going on lately, I hadn't started Jennifer's birthday card, so I was short on time and ideas.  Sorting through a drawer for something in my craft room I came across some SU Sound cards I had purchased awhile ago which gave me an idea for Jennifer's card.  This is the front of the card.  I used my Fun Fest die to cut out a pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie and stamped a #1 on it.  The sentiment stamp I have had for years that I purchased for $1 at Michael's bin.  You have to love that $1 bin!  I had some corn brads and leftover Halloween ribbon to finished off the front of the card.

For the inside I made a template using my 1" and 1/2" circle punch and cut out that side of the card in Whisper White.  This way the unnecessary buttons are covered.  Joe and I recorded our message and I adhered it to the card.  I used my Cupcake Punch to decorate the middle of this side of the card.  On the opposite side, I put a layer of Pumpkin Pie where I wrote our message to Jennifer.  On the back of the card I put another layer of Pumpkin Pie to finish it off.

I was really pleased with the results.  The card comes in a white box which made it perfect to give and save.  Now she can hear our voices even when we aren't with her - which is rare!!!

We hope everyone had a great Halloween!  We had such a great time at Jennifer's birthday.  Here she is riding the Ladybug Rocker we gave her.  She was so excited with it!

Here's a picture of her pumpkin birthday cake.

I think she will have lots of fun in the future celebrating her birthday and Halloween!  This year she was a pumpkin!

Well, we had everyone over at our house today as our town had Halloween today.  The girls had a great time going trick or treating!  Now I'm going to go check out their bags for some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!  Have a great week!
