Christmas Card

It's hard to believe that Christmas is this weekend and a New Year is upon us.  This card was made by Gina K on one of her videos.  I thought is was really nice and loved how it could be made with different greetings, so I made these for Christmas.

The card was made with her Floral Border die set.  I blended different colors on white CS and cut it out with the outline die.  Then I used the flower die and cut it in black and glued it on top.  I love how it turned out.  Every time it will be a different blend depending on the colors you use.

I outlined my panel with black and used her Master Layouts #1 for the ovals.  I don't have many stencils, but I decided to blend the background with light grey and used part of her Bodacious Bloom set.  My sentiment was from the Perfect Poinsettia stamp set.

Things have been hectic around here.  All of Margaret's came down with Covid.  The baby got it first and then one by one the whole family got it.  Margaret had it the worst and had to get medicine for it.  Fortunately, the rest of us had not been with them since Thanksgiving so we weren't exposed.  Joe had to have some surgery last week and is scheduled for another one in January so our Christmas gathering will have to wait.  For all our friends and family, we want to thank you for your well wishes and wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I'm going to be taking some time off from crafting and will see you next year some time.

Halloween Scrapbooks

I have been very remiss on my scrapbooking, so I decided to make some simple scrapbooks for Jennifer and the baby when I saw how cute the Halloween pictures came out.  I saw this video over at Patty's Stamping.  She made her books 5"x 5" but I made my a little bigger 6"x 6" and added more pages.  I love how she changed up the books for different occasions.

Here is the cover.  This was a great project to use up some old DSP I had laying around.  I used SU's Large # Framelit Die and the Outline Halloween Die set I used on my Halloween cards.  I also made witches hats for each scrapbook.  They were so popular years ago and I thought they would be perfect for this project.  The extra hat on the cover is from my sticker stash.

Here is my first set of pages.  I cut DSP and adhered over the pages and mounted the pictures and added some more Halloween stickers and journaling.  Here are the rest of the pages.

I was so happy how they turned out.  I made Jennifer's using her school pictures and her birthday party pictures as well.  These came together pretty quick.  I printed these pictures at Walmart's instead of sending them away which made it quicker to get started.  I hope to still do my larger scrapbooking but these will do for now.  I let Jennifer decorate her own pages as well which gets her involved in the process.

Twenty days until Christmas and I am nowhere ready!  Too much going on and too much to do!  We'll see if I get some Christmas cards ready!

Jennifer's Congratulations Card

Hard to believe but Thanksgiving is almost here.  I have been trying to straighten some things out and remembered that I didn't post the card I made for Jennifer.  She is in a new grade and new school and is doing well academically.  She got a great report card for the 1st Semester so I made a cute card to send her.  I'm sure she will like what's inside as well!

I have a few of Colorado Craft Co. stamp sets and dies and used the A Star is Born for this card.  I think these sets are adorable,  I love the mice!!  I used SU's Pool Party and Powder Pink CS for my base.  I put a small wobble on the cute mouse so it spin around and added some gems.  I should have embossed the background but didn't think of it until the front was finished.  Next time!

For my inside sentiment, I used the same stamp set and die!  I love the different sentiments on these sets.  We are in a deep freeze at the moment but it is suppose to warm up in the middle of the week!  At least we are not in Buffalo, NY.  I can't image having all that snow!  UGH!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Birthday Card

Well, we went from some beautiful days to a windy, raining nasty day which means I hope to get some craft time.  With all the Halloween festivities, I almost forgot to post this birthday card I made for a friend.  The stamp set I used is called Treat Time that Gina K released a few months ago.  The moment I saw it I knew I wanted it.  My friend loves anything ice cream, so I knew the ice cream cone would be great for making her cards.

For my base card, I used SU's Melon Mambo CS.  I stamped the ice cream cone in Stazon Brown and then colored it using my Zig Markers and Gamsol.  Instead of using the flower stamps that came with this set, I decided to use the Burst of Spring Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  I love making these pansies!  The sentiment is from the stamp set.  I am definitely going to use their flowers in the future.  I also added some gem embellishments.

For my inside sentiment, I used SU's stamp set Happiest of Birthdays.  I'm so glad I found this set on Ebay as it is retired.  I have used it so any times already.  I decorated the bottom with some washi tape I had on hand.  I realized that some of the tape is getting dried out so I had better use it while it is still good!

Jennifer's Birthday Card

Hard to believe but today Jennifer turns 9 years old!  For those who follow me. you know that every year I add another pumpkin on her birthday card to represent the number of years.  She was a preemie and the first time I saw here in the NICU she had this adorable orange cap on since it was Halloween. It was pretty easy the first few years, but as she is getting older I will have to get creative!

For her card this year, I decided to make a 5"x7" base so I would have more room!  I used some soft pumpkin colored DSP to place on the card and decorated it with some pumpkins from my stash around the number 9 that I die cut with the Large # Framelits set from SU in orange glimmer paper.  The sentiment is from the Cauldron Bubble stamp set from SU.

For the inside sentiment, I used the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set from SU and I decorated it with a cute little cat I had left over from the Cauldron Bubble set.

It was a busy weekend.  Jennifer had Truck & Treat at her school Friday night and then her friends party on Saturday.  On Sunday we had her family party here in PA and then on Monday they came back again for treat or treat night!  Here are some pictures I thought you might enjoy.

She had her party at a local swimming place with her girl friends.  No boys!!

Here she is on one of the slides!

The birthday cake!

Mom took a special one in as well!

Here the group is getting ready for her Pinata.

Jennifer is showing the baby what to do!

It's goody time!!

He wants to help pickup the goodies!

It's cake time!!

Time to say goodbye!

Jennifer getting ready for school.  She decided to be a fox this year.  Her tail is hiding in the back!

This picture is Jennifer and her Mom ready to go Trick or Treating.  Jennifer is a fox and Mom is a deer.

Here is a picture with Rachel joining in on the fun!

I should have taken a picture of all the candy they brought back!!  Here is a picture of Rachel and Jennifer before everyone headed home!

Witch Halloween Card

Well, I got back to making some Halloween cards this week.  I made the background for these with the third stencils from the Halloween Bundle.

This is how the backgrounds looked after I stenciled them with my blending brushes.

It took me awhile to decide what color I wanted to use for the background.  I ended up using Gina K's Jellybean Green.  I had to experiment using different colors for the base of the candy corn and ended up using SU's Daffodil Delight.  For the other stencil pieces, I used Pumpkin Pie and White Craft inks from SU.

I used Pumpkin Pie for the base cards and adhered the stencil layer next.  Then I used some spider webs I still had in my stash.  I used SU's Cauldron Bubble DSP to die cut the witch and cauldron and the stamp set for my sentiment.

Originally, I had a black wired ribbon on the card but wasn't sure if I liked it.  I asked Rachel when she stopped by and she agreed.  Fortunately, I was able to take them off the cards.  Leave it to my husband to ask why I had a web with no spider!!  Problem solved!  LOL!!

For the inside sentiment, I used SU's Howl-o-ween stamp set and some of the DSP.  I loved how these cards turned out using the old stamp sets.

Happy Face Cards

I decided to take a break from making Halloween cards and make these cute cards that I saw on a video using a Simon Says stamp - Happy Face.  Of course, I didn't have the stamp set but decided to improvise using what I had in my stash.

I punched out several different sizes of circles to find two that fit the size card.  I then punched out a hole on the base card using the larger size.  Since I didn't have the stamp set, I punched my smaller circle on Gina K's masking magic paper and positioned it on different locations on my cards blending with different ink colors.

For my happy face, I punched out a piece of Daffodil Delight CS and drew a face on it and glue it down.  Needless to say, I went through a few circles before I was happy with how they looked!

For my inside sentiment, I used the Happy Sunshine Mini stamp set from Gina K.  I then blended some of the same ink colors around the circle.  I loved how they turned out!  It was a good way for me to practice my blending as well.  Have a great weekend!

Pumpkin Halloween Card

Here is another Halloween card that I made with the Pretty Pink Posh Bundle stencils.   It was so much fun watching the cute pumpkins come together.

I decided to make them into flat shaker cards.  I had never done this before.  I ended up stenciling 4 panels and have two left for my stash which I will use for other cards.  The first stencil is the pumpkin, then the faces and finally the stems.  I used some acetate for my shaker  which I save from my packaging!  So quick and easy!  I put some of SU's Gold Glitter Flakes and some green gems into the shaker.

For my sentiment, I used the Outline Halloween die set.  This set is so neat!  I cut it out in black, glued the outline down on the cards and used the die again in Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green for my letters and glued them in the outlines.  I ended up using my PC to print out the small sentiment and popped them up.  I wanted to put another spider on the front but I didn't want to hide the glitter.  I love my little spiders!!

For my inside sentiment, I used an old stamp set from SU called Howl-o-ween Treat.  I decided to used some old washi tape to decorate the bottom of the layer.  I noticed the other day that some of the rolls are starting to dry up, so I decided to use them up instead of hoarding them.

Please pray for everyone that is in harms way of the hurricane.  I can't imagine having to evacuate from my home and not know what damage we would find when we would come home.

Ghost Halloween Card

I decided I had better start making some Halloween cards before the day sneaks up on me.  I saw this great Halloween Bundle set made by Pretty Pink Posh and decided to get it to refresh my Halloween collection.  I am just getting into using stencils and I am really enjoying them.  This first card uses the ghost, face and star stencils.

For my ghosts, I used white pigment ink and Gorgeous Grape for the stars and base card.  I used a gray CS for my layer.

My sentiment came from a Makerforte strip which I thought was perfect for this ghost card and then I decided to add a spider!

For my inside, I used one of my favorite stamps from Michael's $ bin and added a spider web from SU's Spooky Fun stamp set.

I was having so much fun with the stencils, I even decorated my envelops with the star stencil.  Very happy how they turned out.

Pinwheel Card

Well, here we are half way through September.  It is always a sad time of the year when we remember 9/11.  One of our friends son perished during the Twin Towers attack.  He had just started a new job with Cantor Fitzgerald and was so happy!  He left behind his wife, son and a new baby girl.  Such a sad time in our history and the anniversary of his death reminds me not to allow this act to be forgotten!

Before I get too involved with cards for the upcoming holidays, I wanted to make this cute card of pinwheels.  I always used to get the girls pinwheels as they loved spinning them.  When I saw this card in Pinterest, it brought back so many great memories.  I thought it would come together quickly.  Boy, was I wrong!

I decided to make it a slimline card.  Then I used a stencil from Pretty Pink Posh called Starry Background for the first layer using Archival Ink Sky Blue.  I created a line while moving the stencil over, so I decided to turn the paper over and redo the stencil which then turned out fine.  I found a pinwheel sizzix die in my stash which took awhile!  I made a few of them in different DSP scraps which was good!  Since I am mailing this card to Jennifer, I made flat pinwheels instead of making them puffy which was easier.  I couldn't find the small tiny gold brads that I wanted to use but came across these cute brads that look like buttons.  My fingers just don't work like they use to! Eventually, I got them all together and decided to stamp my greeting which came from Gina K's So Many Sentiments stamp set.  It looked so good until I dropped my black stamp pad right onto the layer!!!  After a few choice words, I decided to turn the layer over to the original side with the line in it that I now decided didn't look too bad and stamp the greeting over again!!

For my inside sentiment, I used SU's Botanicals for You stamp set and decorated the base with some washi tape.  For a card that I thought would be quick and easy it took most of the afternoon, but I like how it finally turned out!!

Thanks for listening to me rant/rave and for stopping by!

Baby's First Birthday Card

It's nice to be posting again.  We have been so busy around here lately.  We were on vacation for awhile.  We rented a house on Lake Keuka - one of the finger lakes in New York.  We had some rain, but most of the time it was nice and very peaceful and quiet.  I could look at the lake all day long.  Then we came home and got to celebrate the baby's first birthday.  It is really hard to believe that he turned one year old!!  He is crawling all over the house and pulling himself up.  It won't be long until he is walking!!  I should have started making his card before we left, but of course I didn't so it was a last minute rush but I think it turned out great!

I made the base card 6" x 6" and I used Heartfelt Creations Tender Moments Collection with their DSP, stamps and dies.  I just love this set with all the beautiful DSP and cute little creatures!  I layered the animals and number so they would stand out more and used SU's # of Years stamp set and dies.  For my circles I used Spellbinders Std Circle Large dies.

I used one of the panels from the DSP for my inside.  I love how they all match!  We had the baby's party at our house.  Here are just a few pictures!

Good thing Sarah took his shirt off as he was into the cake before we even lit the candle!  LOL!

He used his little walker to go everywhere under the watchful eyes of Grandma and Jennifer!

Here is a picture of Jennifer at one of the caverns by the lakes.  Lots of walking which is why Joe and I stayed back at the house!

Every evening after dinner Joe and Jennifer would go fishing!  Lots of fun but no fish!  The crew even got a ride on a pontoon boat with the neighbors next door!

This was our view of the lake every night.  So pretty!  Well, we are into September now which is hard to believe.  I guess I will be making Halloween cards pretty soon!

Thanks for stopping by,
