We hope everyone is having a nice weekend. We are enjoying 60 degree weather here which is fine with me! This weekend we celebrated my son-in-laws birthday. Jennifer and her Mom made a great cake for all to enjoy and we had a great time. She was riding her Hello Kitty car and racing me in my scooter - such fun!
I decided to try out my new thinlets I had just ordered from SU. I was so excited to see these in the catalog and ordered them right away! I have seen so many different ways to use them all over Pinterest, but this was my first try!
Recipe:
Stamps - SU Party with Cake
Paper - Whisper Black, Black, DSP Its My Party
Ink - Melon Mambo, Basic Black, SU Markers
Accessories - Party Pop-up Thinlets Dies, Banner Triple Punch, Banner Punch
Embellishments - Twine
This card was pretty easy to make. I made a A2 size card in Black and layered it with my DSP paper - 5 1/4" x 4". I punched out a 2" banner and stamped it with my sentiment. Then I layered my smaller sentiment on it using the small banner punch and tied two different twines together in a bow and adhered it on with a glue dot.
For the inside, I cut my Whisper White paper at 8 1/4" x 5 1/4". I colored in the pop-up and then adhered it to the inside of the card. I was so excited how it turned out and my son-in-law loved it!!

Get Well Card
A friend of ours is going through a rough time following a cancer diagnosis and surgery, and I wanted to send him a card letting him know we are thinking about him. I originally purchased the SU stamp set - Honeycomb Happiness - for the cute little chick. Don't you hate it that you have to buy a complete stamp set for one stamp that you crave!! Then I saw some cards on Pinterest made with the balloon and loved how they turned out. I didn't have all the bells and whistles they used, so I made my own version.
Recipe:
Stamp Set - SU's Honeycomb Happiness
Paper - SU's Soft Sky, Whisper White, Black, Watermelon Wonder
Ink - Black Stazon
Accessories - Lots of Labels Framelits Dies, Honeycombs
Embellishments - Watermelon Wonder Ribbon, Dots
I really like how it turned out. I love these little honeycombs, and hope it makes it through the mail. We are getting freezing rain tonight and then tomorrow it is suppose to be close to 60 degrees! Crazy weather. Have a great weekend,

Interlocking Heart Card
Well, Happy Monday and President's Day!!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's weekend. The family was all here and we had a great time. Lots of food and laughs!! Jennifer was busy playing with her Barbies and her kitchen set making goodies for everyone to eat, Rachel and her boyfriend stopped by of course for dinner and Sarah was busy eating all the goodies. We had a great time!
Last week, I saw this adorable card TUTORIAL over at Splitcoaststampers created by one of my favorite bloggers Brenda Quintana. I decided to make it for Joe for Valentine's Day but didn't start until Sat. night at 10PM!! I had ordered the Bloomin' Love along with the Thinlets Die and was anxious to use them. Well, what a disaster!! After trying to die cut it 6 times with different sandwiches, I finally got one half cut and did the rest by hand. Yes, I was determined to make this card, partly because I didn't have another one for him. I was so upset and annoyed, but I think it turned out OK every after all the mess!
For my papers, I used Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette and Shimmery White. This is how the inside of the card turned out.
I put it on his coffee cup after midnight, so he would see it first thing in the AM. The first thing he tells me in the AM is that the die really worked out great!!! I said NO, my fingers did most of the cutting!!! This was definitely a labor of love!!!
I called Stampin Up this AM and they are sending me a new die! I have to say there were very nice and pleasant to deal with. I had even purchased the Precision Plate to aid in the process, so we are pretty sure it is the die which they feel must be defective.. Hopefully, the new die will work.
Well, the snow is back but at least the girls have today off as well as Jennifer and her Mom. Only my daughter who is the nurse is working. As she says, nurses never get days off! Hope you have a good week!

Mini Valentine Mailboxes
I saw these cute little Valentine Mailboxes all over the place in Pinterest. I had some nugget bars left, so of course I decided to make some. You can make them as fancy or as plain as you like.
There were a lot of different sizes but I decided to use this video for the ones I made. I made a few changes - the first one NOT using my glue gun!! I don't have a low temperature one to begin with and didn't feel like burning my fingers!! So I used my 1/2" score tape and it worked like a charm.
I had a smaller heart punch which I used, so I punched out two hearts to decorate the base of my mailboxes.
This is a great way to use up some of those scraps you have laying around. My little mail slide measures about 1". I had some micro glue dots in my stash which worked out great for the little pieces. I had purchased them by mistake and thrown then in my drawn and what a great little tool they turned out to be.
I wish Valentine's Day was at least two more weeks away so I could make some more goodies. It seems like I never start early enough making my projects, or I probably want to make too many of them! LOL!!
UPDATE: Jennifer gave out her Bear Hugs Valentine cards today and the kids loved them, especially playing with the spinning bears!

Bear Hugs Valentine Cards for Jennifer
My daughter asked me if I would make some Valentine Cards for Jennifer to take to daycare for her little friends. I knew exactly what stamp set I would use!! I just received SU's Bear Hugs stamp set. When I saw this in the catalog, I knew I would have to have it. Where Jennifer lives they have bears strolling through the property every now and then, so she knows what a real bear looks like. Usually, they don't come out until dusk, but one day this summer my daughter was putting some water into Jennifer's little baby pool when Jennifer told her - Mom - bear - she looked up and there was a huge bear standing about 20' from them watching them!! Fortunately, they were by the garage door and backed up and shut the door! For a long time when we would go over after that, Jennifer's first statement to us would be - no bear Nanny!!
Recipe:
Stamps - SU's Bear Hugs & Framelits Dies
Paper - Real Red, Whisper White
Ink - Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Real Red
Punches - Heart, Word Window
Accessories - Heart Embossing Folder, Action Wobbles
Embellishments - Red Twine
These were so much fun to make. I used my bone folder to bend the paw forward and was planning on putting a lollipop sucker in the paws for the kids, but found out NO GOODIES!! Nothing but cards! What a bummer!! So I put a red heart in one paw and a little sentiment that said Friend in the other paw. I also colored the bears in different shades of brown as well.
I tied some twine on the bottom and stamped a "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment on the inside. I also put a Action Wobble on the bear so he spins around. I forgot to take a picture of the envelope but I also stamped little red open hearts all over them. I loved how they turned out even though they were minus the lollipop!!
We had some snow last night but only a few inches - not like the last time thank goodness!

Valentine Poppers
I saw this video at - Stampin Pretty - and fell in love with it! It brought back so many memories! I remember when I was a kid and I went to a birthday party the first thing we would do was snap our popper (which made noise) and open it up to see what goodies were inside! So I decided to make these for my daughter to take to the Wellness Center. They came together pretty quick!
This is a great project to make multiples. I first cut my DSP, made my score lines, put my tape on and then punched them with my envelope punch. I then put them together.
Two nugget bars fit perfectly inside. I then tied my ends with some twine I had picked up at Hobby Lobby. It was such a large roll I couldn't pass it up. With my app on my phone I had a 40% coupon and ended up paying only $3.81!! You have to love those apps!!
I then used my SU stamp set PS - I Love you for the sentiment and punched them out with a 1" circle punch. I popped them up with a dimensional and I was done. A little red grass in my red tray and they are ready to go!
I still have some cards to make and cookies to bake this weekend, so I had better get going, I like to make my cookie dough ahead of time and refrigerate it so it is ready to go. Hope you have a great weekend.
