Happy Anniversary - to US!!!!

Rachel brought to my attention that on July 17th it was our 1st Anniversary of our blog - and with all the birthdays we almost missed it!  We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited the Pansy Patch, left comments and emailed us!  We so enjoyed hearing from you.  We decided to start our blog to have fun and share our goodies, and I'm happy to say that we are still having fun with it!

We've been having so much fun that I almost forgot to share one of Sarah's cards that she made her Mom for her birthday!  She loves to use the Create a Critter cart and decided to make Mom her favorite animal - the giraffe!  Rachel also found her Mom an adorable giraffe cup at Pier One - spots on the outside and as you drink your tea what should appear - a giraffe standing up in the bottom!  Too cute for words!

Well, it's hard to believe that 4 weeks from today the girls will be going back to school.  We had so many plans for this summer and our list is still half full, so we had better get busy!  Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks again for stopping bye during the past year and visiting with us,

Scalloped Easel Card

I needed one more birthday card for the month and decided to try this card that I saw done by DOstamping with Dawn awhile ago.  One of my problems is that I usually don't have enough of the supplies needed to make the card but in this case I did.

Supplies:

Ink - Black Stazon
Stamps - Happy Greetings, Flower Fest - SU
Paper - Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Black, Whisper White - SU
Accessories - Scalloped Circle Die, Circle Die, 1 1/4" Circle Punch
Embellishments - 1 1/4" ribbon - 9", Brad

The only thing that I didn't have was the circle dies, so I just used my Cricut to cut out the 3" and 31/2" circles. Here is the video to make the faux bow.  It was so easy to make and I loved how it turned out.  I'm not the best bow maker, so I will definitely use this technique again!

We all went out to dinner last night to celebrate all the July birthday's - and there was a lot of them.  The girls had Tartufo for desert for the first time and loved it!  I tried to be good but took some tastes as well.  What a way to end a delicious meal!  Have a great week!

Mom's Birthday Card

I saw this card in the new SU catalog and knew I wanted to make it.  The girls were here the other day and we decided to try out the new Pressed Molds and Clay from SU to make the flower.  We had such a great time playing around but did have trouble with the button molds.  Then we saw this video by Jackie Topa which really helped and made the process so easy!  If you are into making these cute flowers, definitely watch this video!

Recipe:

Ink - Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Summer Sun
Paper - Crumb Cake, Whisper White - SU
Stamp -  Birthday Stamper from JustRite Stamps
Accessories -  Bella Boutique Stamp Wheel, Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed
Molds and White Clay, 1" Square Punch - SU
Embellishments - Ribbon colored with Old Olive and stickles

The base card is an A2 size - 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" in Crumb Cake.  I love using the stamp wheels from SU and decided to try out this new one I had just purchased and love the look.  I then used my square punch and punched out a square one right after the other four times to create my window - about 1" x 4".  I put a mark on my inside paper where I wanted my flower to be and then glued my ribbon down, which I had colored with my marker for the flower stem.  I tied a small bow and attached it to the stem with a mini glue dot.  After my flower had dried, I colored it with my melon mambo marker and used summer sun for the center adding some yellow stickles for decoration and adhered it to the mark on the paper and it was finished!

We decided to make this card for my daughter's birthday.  I really liked how it turned out and know she will enjoy it since it was a joint effort from the crew at the Pansy Patch!

Happy Birthday Mom!!!!

The weather here has been soooooo hot and the next few days aren't going to be any better.  We finally got some tomatoes and peppers from the garden, but we definitely need some rain which is suppose to come this weekend.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend whatever you decide to do.

Thank for stopping bye,

Simple Birthday Card

I needed a quick birthday card this past week and knew what I wanted to make.  I had seen this video on DOstamping and wanted to try it out.

This card was really quick and easy to make.  I didn't have the Framelits she used but used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch instead, as well as, stamps from Michael's for the inside/outside sentiments.  I think the next time I make this card I will try my large star punch instead of the butterfly punch.  That's what's so nice about creating your cards.  Using what you have in your collection, you can change the design a lot of different ways!

Well, we are getting ready for another heat wave here!  Last week was so busy - so I'm looking forward to a quiet week hiding from the heat!

Sun Flower Gift Box

I needed a small gift box, so I started rummaging through my binders for some ideas.  If I see something that I like, I usually print it out and put it in the appropriate binder - so hopefully I can find it later on.  I came across this cute little box and decided to give it a try.  I saw it on Crafting with Katie in 2011.  Better late than never!

Katie wrote out great instructions.  I don't have Art Philosophy, so I used my oval punches for the tag.  I really like the look of adhering the ribbon to the lid and base separately so that the box can be opened without messing up the ribbon.  It came together very well and I love the flower on the top.  This could be made in any color combination but the person I'm giving the gift to loves sun flowers, so I used a light yellow I had in my stash along with Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip.  I am definitely going to have to use those carts more often.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!  It has been so hot here and next week looks like more of the same.  The girls and I all got nooks so we are going to a class at Barnes & Noble this week.  Did you know that you can download books from your local library with your card number for 2 weeks - for free!  We are going to find out more of the details!

Thanks for stopping bye,

4th of July Candy Wrapper

Every 4th of July I make these cute candy wrappers for my daughter to take to the hospital.  I saw this done years ago on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts and loved it and make them every year.  This year I decided to make some of the Flag Picks to go along with them.

The hardest thing about making these are cutting the red stripes thin enough.  I had a bunch of them piled up and it brought back memories of playing - Pick Up Sticks!!  I'm probably dating myself, but as a kid we loved playing this game!  We're looking forward to a great 4th of July and lots of fireworks!  My friend Denise invites us over to her house every year to see the fireworks - she has a great view, so the girls are looking forward to that again this year!
